    Cambelt Timing Tools

I am planning to do all the engine belts in my V6 Sport at some point, and I need to obtain the necessary tooling.

Has anyone ever used the timing tools from Laser Tools? The link to their specified tools for a V6 is here: https://www.lasertools.co.uk/toolpoint/mid/MIT13289

If that is incorrect, could anyone let me borrow theirs..?

    Many thanks,

    Jamie

You can do it without. Check out the VR4 timing belt change article.

I saw the V6-24 article that mentioned there was no need to lock the cams, is that applicable across all SOHC V6s?

I did mine using the marks, I haven't read the timing belt thread, youre supposed to go to the marks an move one tooth back, I didn't do this I just went to the marks an the cams moved an give me a nasty cut, but I just rolled it back to its position and replaced the belt, its done 40,000 miles since then, I had the engine out at the time, itll be a little harder to see the marks with it in but theyre very very clear and the belts massive, hardest part I had was the hydraulic tensioner, I put it in a vice and put a pin in it, no real drama, its easier to do the belt than it is to get the alternator out or the steering rack, pm me if you need any help that the post doesn't show, I only check mail every few days

I honestly don't know but it would be a good bet. So many valves being pushed by one cam there is a good chance it is always under pressure from springs in both directions.
