    Unhappy Reverse light?

Had a clutch job recently and asked the mechanic to look into the presence of a reverse switch. He reports that it has been a manual conversion using the auto casing so that the switch is wired for the auto system. Doesn't make sense to me as both transmission casings must be different? I just want to be able to get my reverse lights going. Advice please from any member experiencing same.

Assuming it is an auto conversion then somewhere in your engine bay is a 10 pin plug with four big pins and six small pins. Two adjacent big pins needs shorting so the car thinks it is N or P which allows the starter motor to kick in. The other two large pins on that plug are the connections for the reverse switch. You will need to play with spade connectors to make the connections to the switch on the manual box but it is all perfectly possible.
