    Fitting Facelift Hub Carriers?

Anyone know of a good thread or tips about fitting face lift hub carriers to a pre-face lift VR-4 I can reference?

I have some from Rikki's car that I need to fit but wondering about alignment etc. when I fit them

Also - is it worth getting new hubs and fitting them at the same time while I have everything in pieces - as far as I can tell from this thread they are these

    Cheers all!

    Alex

AFAIK the carriers are the same, except the mounting distance of the caliper bracket. The calipers are the same too. So you only need FL brackets. Officially you should do an alignment everytime you are working on the suspension (I don't do that ...).
If the hubs are ok, why should you replace them?

Yep, what Menno said. It's a straightforward swap, as long as nothing is too rusty!

Obviously you need calipers that fit as your current ones won't.

    Thanks Nick and Menno

Yes I have Brembos from the donor car to fit too so that's really the end goal of what I'm trying to do here

I'll have a look at the caliper mounting distance as that's obviously the key factor here and then I can work out the easiest way to do this

    Thanks again

Two lower arms to disconnect. One joint at the top. Drive shaft needs to come out of the hub. Track rod end too and drop link. Also need to get behind the top of the arch liner to unplug the abs wire.

The Brembo should bolt to the carrier no problem if you have it all from a previous VR4 fitment. Bolts to the caliper are a different thread pitch to stock so you need those.

@Judder those are the correct hubs. They are available in varying quality from the UK as well as the US.

    I think so.
There is a drive shaft change on 2wd models, but I think it is the gearbox end splines, not the hub end.

@SinkreZ The hub carriers are shared between the VR4 and the FWD Galant so the fitting of 5 stud hubs is possible. As Nick says it would depend if the splines for the driveshaft fit.

I assume you want to fit 5 stud wheels to a Galant?

Yes, because it's kind hard to find proper wheels with 4 holes, and i don't wanna use spacers (from 4 to 5). So changing hubs is my best solution to it and I don't know what exact parts would fit

A gent called Andy, user name The Vee on here has converted to five stud hubs on a FWD galant. He also installed a 6A13TT! Posts by him might reveal what he did?

You can use an Evo4 hub and bearing.
Also you might need new flexi lines at the berm is, can’t remember at mo, but there is a list of what you need for Brembo conversion somewhere.
You need to shorten the bolts on the rear mounts if fitting rear where Brembos
