    Overheating issue

    Hi everyone,

    I have a 2002 LEGNUM VR-4.
I am having overheating issues at the moment and I have no idea what the problem is, so hopefully somebody on the forum can help?

    Modifications:
    1) HKS BOOST CONTROLLER EVC 5
    2) BLITZ AIR FILTER
    3) INTERCOOLER
    4) OIL COOLER
    5) TRANSMISSION COOLER
    6) FUJITSUBO EXHAUST

    Problems:
    1) Car gets very hot just idling( standing still)....engine area gets very hot very quickly.
The average temperature where I live is 30 degrees celsius, sometimes it can go up to 36 degrees celsius.

    2) When idling, sometimes I can see white smoke coming out from the fan and radiator area.

    3) Engine area smell of burnt oil sometimes, but not sure where it comes from.

    4) Burnt black oil coming out from the exhaust....is that normal?

    Any comments would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

You may have a leak if you see 'white smoke', it could be coolant steaming?

Do the fans come on when idling?

The car should be able to keep itself cool whilst driving without needing to use the fans. Have you checked the thermostat to make sure its opening?

Have you checked the level of the coolant?

Does the temp gauge in the car go more than half way across?

The VR4 engine does run hot.

Definitely burnt black oil? Or soot from over fuelling?

What boost pressure are you running?
