    catalytic converter & UK MOT

Does anyone know if I can get away with removing the catalytic converter on my 1992 VR-4 and still pass a UK MOT test.

I think the government made catalytic converters compulsory on all vehicles in 1993 but the Japanese were ahead of the UK and had one factory installed on mine.

I'd like to remove it if I can, but has anyone got away with having their catalytic converter removed?

I know a lot of tuners remove, replace and then remove catalytic converters just for the MOT but I was wondering if I wouldn't have to bother as my car was built in 1992.

I do hope so - it would make me feel pleased for once for having one of the oldest cars in this club!

    Kind regards, kitefighter.

think cats were mandatory from 91J reg. but others have had success with newer vehicles. Try a search on forums.

mot req all cars from 1996 onwards to have cats

if yours is a 1992 then you dont need one.
you can bypass it and they cant fail you for not haveing one.
