    Baffled sumps

Afternoon all, hope everyone is keeping well.

Have had a quick look through the previous threads regarding baffled sumps but no one seems to have ever had one or listed anywhere that has made one.

I found the listing for Richard’s 6a13tt engine and that states custom baffled sump but no other info.

I’m a little worried and wanting to go down this route due to the engine will be going into my FTO and used practically only on track and would like to try slicks BUT baffled is a must for this.

Anyone had experience on track with the engine and had problems or none? I used the 6a12 mivec and not had an issue.

Any hints or companies that may be able to help out would be great. Thanks

i looked into sump baffles for the 6A13tt.
the lower sump holds a max 3.4L of oil when you brim it to the join to the upper sump. the engine takes to full about 4L of oil.

but after looking at the sump design it was clear that the dipstick end of the sump is fine as it will retain all the oil that push in that direction.
the front and back movement of oil will hit the front and back walls of the sump and there is not really any where for it to go.
the crank end of the lower sump could be a problem as there is only a very small over hang of the upper sump over the top of the lower sump. so the oil can slosh over that quite easily.

but there is not a lot of room for a traditional baffle kit to be installed in the lower sump.

it might be more prudent to just add an extension to upper sump over hang.

i will see if i have any pictures of the lower and upper sump to give you a bit of a better idea of what i am talking about.
