    Any shogun guru’s here?

Hi all, been a while since i’ve been on here but need some advice on a 3.2 diesel shogun that i might be looking to buy cheap
Basically it needs some work, rear brakes (no worries)
    Mot (again no real worries)
The big one for me is it’s hard to start and lacking a bit of power, now i’ve read horror stories about the injection pump
Question is are they really that bad and how hard are they to sort out?
Now i don’t know it is the pump but i don’t know it isn’t either
    Any advice greatly appreciated
    Cheers in advance

    I'm no expert!

Could be a pump issue but could equally be low compression from worn bores or blown head gasket.

Are you familiar with diesel pumps, they need to be timed to the engine, the mounting holes are elongated I believe. So you'd need the spec for this and a way of measuring it (Dial gauge maybe?). They also work at high pressure and need to be primed once fitted, you'll need to make sure the injector pipes are all done up tight or you'll have diesel everywhere very quickly.

The pump runs off the timing belt so not sure if you can replace without disturbing the timing?

And that just about covers my knowledge of a Pajero fuel pump

I had a an old P38 diesel which i managed to refurb the injector pump in situ so i have had a bit of experience with diesels
On the shoguns i’ve read they have a couple of sensors on the injection pump but they also have a chip in them which connects to the ecu, just don’t know what to believe about these
