    Christ.

I've got a slight misfire - more prominent when the engines cold and at idle.

Plugs and a *full* service are a priority for me now

I had the same problem, and it turn out to be the coil pack

Coil packs are really expensive about £160 each.
And you probably well not be able to find a replacement.
You can go second hand replacement but they are all about 20 years old already and if they are working now they they probably done have much life left in them.
I am not sure if mitsi still sell original coil packs .
I believe the coil pack is unique to the vr4 engine like a lot of other things.
And the after market scene do not provide any solutions at present.
We are getting a bit left behind on this issue.

    Bye for Now!

Your plugs look completely buggered particularly if the are all supposed to be iridium tipped plugs.
    Definitely need new ones.

You can get double iridium plugs now with a bit of iridium on both sides of the spark gap.
Witch should make them last longer the the standard single centre electrode tip plug.

Probably the best spark plug you can get for spark performance is the cheapest copper only none resistive plug. But these create a lot of noise which is picked up on the radio and potentially in the ECU and other electrical circuits in the car which is why they are not used any more.
However standard copper resistive plug are still probably the best spark performing spark plug you can get but they don't last long.
If you don't mind changing the plugs every about 5k miles then these are the plugs for you.
All of the other plug designs will only increase the life span of to he plug. Don't believe the hype about giving better spark.
If you need better spark due higher boost of a change in fuel, etc, fit a higher out coil pack. Different plug will not give you a bigger better spark comparing new for new plugs. Reducing the gap on the plug will give a more consistent spark in higher boost applications or different fuels.

I searched for months and Viamoto was the best place I found, took him 4 weeks to get them, finally got rid of the missfire tho after trying everything else.
The COP replacement was too trick for me so I had to shell out.
    Cheers

I am going to release a COP conversion kit soon.
it is a completely plug and play kit, no wiring, no metal work making brackets, no looking for screws, washer, spacers, or anything else for that matter.
i can even supply the coil packs.

watch the forum for updates on this and it will be sold for as cheap as possible to make it affordable for all, to keep these cars on the road.

    All of them...

Regards Coil packs I have just bought a set from a manufacturer in China..Yes I know everyone knocks Chinese goods...I buy from Alibaba/Aliexpress quite a lot and to be honest get more good quality bargains than crap.

Anyway, when compared to OEM coil packs they are identical right down to the 'melted in' ID numbers so I am beginning to think they may have been the original OEM suppliers.

Let's face it how many car manufacturers make their own electricals? Even the Gearboxes in our VR4s originate in China.

Anyway The manufacturer obviously likes bigger orders but I managed to buy 4 as a trial purchase...I am going to fit them in next week or two and will report back if anyone is interested?

Bought 4 (minimum order) thinking I'd fit three and if anyone wants to try the odd one as a freebie (Adaxo ?) in amongst their OEM other two any imbalance or performance issues would show up as irregular running.

Worth a try I think at less than £20 EACH!

Just wait a bit for @Davezj to release his p&p cop kit, knowing his attention to detail it will be well worth watching for.

Did you get those coil packs? If so, are they any good and how long did they take to arrive?
