Just when you thought i'd gone away.
Not me gone away... the dealer !! no updates, always busy..... lunch break...... day off etc. turns out, he wasn't updating anyone, not just me !! [ no longer works for JCT 600 ]
Spoke with a very nice young lady 2 weeks back, & she gave me a full update on my cars progress.

build week 45..... usually in build 6/8 weeks. MY 22 .......[model year 2022 ] which means improved interior/softer feel, area view, updated software V2.3 etc at no extra cost. An MY 22.5 would have been nice but mine was 3 weeks premature going into build, so no 5 memory remote parking, built in shop etc !!

ETA february....... but I think that is a tad optomistic. although VW are pushing to BEV's ordered to customers ASAP.

On an aside, & I know you all love EV's I wish the new KIA EV6 GT was available to me ! check it out [ & I said GT not GT line ]

Find me an affordable EV estate/SUV with room for two greyhounds in the boot. (Note - I have no wish to fold the seats or the greyhounds to make everything fit!) I'm willing to go full electric, but can't find anything I can afford that fits the bill. Also, as we have multiple cars I see hybrids as the worst of both worlds rather than a useful single car solution.

Nail on head Nick. the cost of EV's. A basic golf 8 is from around £23k. my ID.3...... the golfs 'replacement' is £36,750 !

currently, the EV with the largest boot [hatchback] is the tesla model Y...... starting at £56k

I've not looked at the model Y. I've see the boot of an I-Pace and it was not big enough to get two greyhounds in. The model Y looks significantly smaller. A model X might work, but no point looking as there is zero chance of me affording that.
The only option that might work is the MG at around £30k. But with electric technology so young I am quite wary of buying a Chinese EV.

    LMAO

There isnt anything that will tick those boxes. Hybrids and EVs are pretty much made for the short commutes into crowded city centres, which are increasingly becoming pedestrian zones only.

Chinese EV's will soon be market leaders.

BYD, NIO and XPeng. Both NIO and XPeng already testing in Europe in particular Norway.

Quite excited about the XPeng brand. Looks fresh....

I quite frankly don't believe those numbers are comparing apples with apples. The model Y has no parcel shelf, so it seems that they count the whole volume behind the rear seats. It has a sloping rear screen so like pretty much any other hatch/compact SUV there is not enough height for two greyhounds.

February delivery........ I'll believe that when I see it
Orders are all over the place, build/deliver info is non existant. but.......... my stealer insists there are 60 cars due for delivery soon & mine is at or near the top of the list.

Another 400 cars ordered, but...... customers probably wont see them this year !! Things are so bad that there are no new cars in the showroom still. and thats not just VW, most dealers ! So....... if you see a new car on autotrader for march, 22 plate deliver, give 'em a ring & listen to the excuses as to why "that model may not be available sir"

I will probably leave mine at the stealers & let them put it in the showroom.......... honest ! I'm in no rush for it, springtime sounds a better time.

as of last tues.... according to dealer... my car has been built & has left the factory at Zwickau. So in theory it's either by now in Emden or or the ferry.

Lets hope the ferry doesn't sink ! [ anyone on here old enough to remember "that incident?? " ]

it should be here within 2 weeks, so given PDI time etc, early march collection...... hopefully

    Delivery day tomorrow

i was hoping to get it delivered to me, but the lazy sods wont !! So, I've got to get up in the morning & walk across the road to collect it.............1st world problem LOL.

Exactly 8 months since I ordered, I got off lightly compared to some orders. tour & max trims ordered around the time of mine may not see them this year !! The only model you can order now is the 'life' base model. all others dropped. A victim of their own success ?

Apart from 'chip' problems all manufacturers are suffering from, VW..... apparently..... get most of their wiring looms from ukraine !!

@miller . the car comes with £500 / xxxkwh / 12 months free charging, [ whichever runs out 1st ] also..... the dealer doesnt mind if I leave my car there & use the free 'trickle' chargers. win win !

Crikey, the last car I had with plastic wheel trims was in the early/mid nineties.
No my mum threw my flares away when I was a nipper - they were a bit before my formative years
I do recall buying myself some pinstripe narrow leg jeans - let’s hope they don’t come back into fashion.
How is the electrickery motor ? Knowing you you’ve been smoking Saxo yoofs at the lights ???
