No Ignition, No Hi Vis dash, No Start!

    Hi All

Alarm off, get in, key in ignition, turn on No hi vis dash!, turn key, starter cranks, but doesn't fire up. I can hear the radiator fans on when key goes to ignition.

Checked with my alarm guy and he said if the led is off then the alarm is disabled and so is the immobiliser, so I'm pretty sure its not my alarm.

    Any info or assistance welcome.

I have video of this when it happened about two months ago no dash lights, turned the key off and on a couple of times and all good, it's been ok since then.
But on Saturday, no start and no dash lights!.

    cheers Louis

Fan on full means that it's got ignition power, but no signal from the ECU.

There's two ignition outputs on the back of the key barrel, so potentially one of those isn't working correctly. It's "common" for people to splice into these for accessories such as boost controller, turbo timer, alarm etc and leave dodgy joints, or it could be within the key barrel itself, or it could be a shared relay - not got the electrical manual to hand right now to check.

    Thanks Garry,
    I’ll check it out tomorrow.
I have a spare ign barrel and key
I can’t do flashy dash as the ignition isn’t on!!.
I’ll try and connect laptop to it but I’m not sure if it will connect if ignition is not on.
Steering column and ign switch is a good place to start and I’ll check fuses

Do you get accessories in ACC position? the charge lamp flickering screams a faulty barrel or broken wire from the barrel.

Hi, in the video is shows the batt light flicker, but there would be no other lights with acc on, I could get headlight, and front fog, but nothing ignition related.
Now I get nothing, no flicker, I do get side lights lamp and front fog, but everything else is just dead.

I have another ing barrel and will try using it tomorrow.

Gary, can you show or describe the two live on the IGN connector, so I can check for live there, cheers

Tried a second ign barrel it’s just the same, so the barrel seems good.
I’m getting 1 live on the large blue block and 1 live on the smaller white block.
Should I have another live on these blocks??

Yeah the thick red cable is permanent Live to the switch.

Out from here are ACC (Blue/Yellow) from the first position on the switch, plus IG1 (White/Black) and IG2 (Blue/Red) on position 2 of the switch.

So, to verify that the switch itself isn't at fault, you can bridge the Red to these, and stuff should light up...

After that, you'll be looking at fuses in both fuse boxes, and just tracing these wires through as far as you can until you find something untoward...

I'd still say it's probably the alarm/immobiliser at fault, or one of the joints to it is dodgy.

I need to find a wiring diagram lol!

Do you know where the black and white wire would go to from the ignition switch?.
Mine has been cut and a new black wire soldered to it all very neat and professional and full harness taped. So I’m guessing this is part of the alarm install. So, if I can find where the other end of the black and white is, a can bridge the original cable and see if that does anything.

Here's a link to a PDF of the wiring diagram, granted for the EUDM models, but the non-VR4 specific wiring is common between all models.
