Spotted on eBay...looks decent. Was for sale earlier this year and disappeared, now it's back!

I don't personally know this car but the pictures make it look quite good. Appears to be standard and not messed with. As it's one of the original imports, it would be good to check the state of the underside to check it as a good underseal.
I think it's advertised with a strong price.
'97 Manual Legnum in silver with some subtle mods
My first VR4 - '97 Legnum Dark Green & mean ...it was love at first sight - now sold
I strongly suspect it is orange if you look in the right places, but the right places are not shown in those photos. I may be wrong - it could be that it has been kept in a warm dry garage every winter, but statistically UK from new are the most orange!
Hmm yes advisory for general underbody corrosion on MOT history...maybe best left alone!

I just bought that car, I've been looking for a galant for years and that was the first one to pop up
Apparently the underside is rotted but fixable so once I've got the mechanicals done (booked in Tuesday for fixing the driver window, hopefully just an actuator as I managed to source one from a breaking galant, had to source my own cambelt and water pump kit, oil leak fix, power steering fluid leak, major service, plus I've got a blitz blow off valve going on)....then I'm going to book it in for the underside and hope it's low thousands! I believe it's mostly sills!
Bodywork. Is actually pretty much perfect on top!
Also, first post! Hi guys!

Should have joined this forum a lot earlier - I've been looking for a galant for years and I thought I grabbed a bargain, then I joined here and clicked the for sale section - eyes open hahaha!
At least the plate is worth a couple of grand
Anything is fixable with enough determination/time/money (Pick two off that list!) I hope it all goes well for you.
Welcome!
The official imports did suffer a bit with rust as they never received a good underseal from the dealers. Lets hope it's not too bad.
Areas to pay special attention are the subframe mountings, they can rust in places that's hard to spot without removing the subframe. Front suspension turrets can also rot from the inside out, if you can see any corrosion on the surface it's almost certain to be worse once you start digging.
Best of luck with your new purchase

Oh dear this is really sounding bad now
Worst case scenario I was hoping £2000 to fix up the underneath, I hope that's realistic!
I guess that all depends on who's doing the work.
I didn't tell you that to scare you, it's better to go in eyes open. You may be lucky and find it's just a couple of holes and some surface rust
Fingers crossed! Hey thanks, I'd rather have the worst case scenario - ultimately I'm going to put it in as near perfect condition as possible with a 20 year old car - I think the initial idea of getting a V6 twin turbo that looks that good without any headaches was unrealistic....if I'd gone for an m135i or 335i, I inevitably would have had some big issue like the electrics so it's a lesson I needed to learn! I was lulled into the false sense of security with the last 2 Alfas (people said they would be awful and and nothing broke)
Once I've got space I'm going to look for a (really really) cheap rx8 and swap between them so as not to cover too many miles - definitely will be joining their forums before I buy though
