    Blow off valve

Hi, just thinking of fitting Bov on my motor, where would I get one from, and also is all the induction pipes etc the same as a 3000 gto? Could I go for a bov for one of these? Would it fit? Thanks in advance, I know it's a lot of question's!!!

As you may know, the VR4 has a recirculation valve fitted as standard. If you fit a BOV it can confuse the ECU a little as it's already accounted for the air you vent to atmosphere. It may cause some poor running. A good aftermarket recirc valve maybe the best way to go.

I actually use a hybrid valve but have it set on recirc (it was a bargain price when I got it) www.gfbuk.com

The 3000 GT engine is totally different to the VR4 engine despite the VR4 in the car name so none of the induction pipework will fit.

    Evo valves fit.
I use an atmospheric BOV, an HKS SSQV. This can lead to the car stalling in some circumstances which is for the reasons Tim mentioned above.

I also have an atmospheric blow off, Sard R2D2, let's face it we get them for the sound you will need to blank off one end of the recirc valve piping, don't ask me how I know but the lid of a 500ml lucozade bottle makes an acceptable blanking plug lol

No big issues no as I recall but it hasn't run for a few years, the slight dip towards stalling was never a problem.
The recirc valve can be seen from beneath the car, fitted between the hardpipe from gearbox side of front intercooler, and the plastic hardpipe from front turbo. You remove this, fit your BOV and blank the other side, it's early and I can't remember which side you blank

    I have a whoosh noise!

The valve dumping to atmosphere will mean you have a brief period of running rich, as the car will be fuelling for the air it has measured in through the maf, but has exited unmeasured through the BOV. How much that affects you depends on the BOV, the driving style, the tune on your car etc. The only time I notice is if I accelerate hard, then dump the clutch and keep it dumped. The engine stalls then, I'm sure because there is way too much fuel for the air and nothing to keep the engine turning. If I shift into the next gear and come off the clutch then I have no stalling issue.

Fit it and give it a try - worst case scenario you'll swap it back again!

Thanks Nick! I'll ask them to put the original part in my boot and keep it in case! Hopefully there won't be any stalling issue will be ok as it's an automatic so i guess no clutch lifting after it dumps!

It can happen if you lift off and brake hard coming to a stop in auto too. Some people have a lot of problems and some don't - hence I suspect it is a combination of quality of the valve, other boost leaks on the car, the tune on the ecu, the driver themselves etc... My car is relatively subtle to look at even though it is well modified. The exhaust tip and the dump valve are my two "immature" modifications!

That's not correct. The car only requires one.

I just bought the one as TAR said! Only thing I would say is..... have a look on this forum before you buy one. I paid over £200 for mine from blitz and 2 days later I saw a BOV advertised on here for £65

Yet again, companies getting things totally wrong because they don't know the cars!

As everyone else has said, only a single one needed, and ideally recirculating. Though there are hybrid ones, where you can choose how much to recirculate and how much to vent, so if you want a bit of noise, you can have it without upsetting the running of the car too much!

Do you remember what model GFB Hybrid Valve you went with? I was originally looking at the T9033 but after reading your comment I am now looking at this list https://gfb.com.au/products/blow-off...id-2018-02-19/

GFB 1012RE but I think it's an old model no longer available.

Looks a bit like this one https://gfb.com.au/products/blow-off...-valve-detail/
