Hello I am the new owner of an estate vr4 Galant/legnum

    Hello,

My name is Javed, I recently purchased a silver 2001 mitsubishi Galant/Legnum. It has a large blitz fmic. Tein coil overs. I have done a full service: ngk colder grade 7 with the 0.8mm gap. Front lower control arms aftermarket from America (Mike from viamoto). Installed superpro bushes on the new arms, Also done a bit of rust repair on the front suspension turret. Also done the extra long stud conversion so I can run spacers which originally came on the car. The previous owners cut the studs on the hub

So I am just trying to save this car and do the jobs properly.

I need help with the following problems:
I need a set of wheels as these have deep dish alloys which are cracked. Looking for 9j 18 inch for all 4 corners. Anybody who has any for sell please let me know and we could do a deal.
Fuel gauge or fuel sender unit is faulty. I am not sure where to start, so any pointers would be great.

I am based in the UB6 area if anyone is local contact please.

    Thank you clubvr4!

Sounds like a great purchase and you know what you need - I'd suggest putting a post in the for sale section as want to buy

What's wrong with the fuel gaue/sender?

Most common issue is an uprated pump has been fitted and the pump has gone back in at the wrong angle, so the float fouls in the tank.
Also, it is worth noting that the first quarter of the gauge and the last quarter of the gauge hold more than three quarters of the tank. The middle two quarters are usually gone in about 40 miles! The tank is 60l, the light should come on with 10l left.

    Hello Nick,
Thank you for the advice. I will have to investigate the fuel sender and pump. How do I tell if it is uprated fuel pump?

I have another problem, after I did a bit of preventive maintenance and rust repair. The car will not boost and in other situations boost will come. When I drive it hard the car cuts boost abruptly!
I have checked all boost pipes and bought mikalor clamps. What is the cause of all these problems. Do I need to get a custom remap? I have also gone to a colder spark plug. (NGK BKR7EIX Iridium Spark Plugs - 2667)

Any advice at this moment would be great? I miss driving this car to its fullest potential!

When you have a car with a lot of modifications it is difficult to know where to start. Air leaks in the intake pipework after the MAF is a good bet though. "Boost cut" is a factory ecu method of not going lean - if the car thinks the load on the engine is too high for too long it cuts the fuel. The VR4 ecu does not monitor boost and therefore does not control it the way some might expect. And also, therefore, what you call "Boost cut" is more correctly described as Fuel Cut - the ecu cuts the fuel and not the boost.
