Another intercooler thread - will an r-line fit?

    Hi guys,

I know we just had an intercooler thread but I ordered a mishimoto m-line and now they're saying out of stock.

The staged upgrades thread says 600x300x76mm, I've ordered the standard pipes from SF supplies as suggested:
    Reducing 45° Elbows 76-63 Blue
    delete item - 1 @ £31.72 ea.
    Reducing 90° Elbows 76-63 Blue
    delete item - 1 @ £26.06 ea.
    Murray 50-73
    delete item - 2 @ £5.23 ea.
    Murray 64-86
    delete item - 2 @ £5.64 ea.

    Will a mishimoto r-line fit? Looks about right apart from it's slightly thicker - 607mm x 305mm x 102mm

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I just realise it's not exactly what was suggested on here and I don't fancy having the intercooler off and the new one doesn't fit!

76mm thick barely fits, 105mm definitely not.

I've got one of the cheap eBay ones, it seems to do a good enough job, and I often tow and generate a lot of heat in the inlet.

Thanks pal I'll just make sure I stick to the sizing!

    Just to be 100% sure I need the 600x300x76 - 63mm as my hoses are RE45-76-63 Elbow & RE90-76-63 Elbow -
    600x300x76mm - 63mm
    £ 171.95
    600x300x76mm - 76mm
    £ 171.95

Sorry to bump but does anyone know if the hoses are reducing from 76mm to 63mm or the other way around?

The hard-pipes on the VR-4 are 63mm, so as most of the aftermarket eBay special 600x300x76 intercoolers have 76mm outlets, we use silicon 90 degree reducers on either end to convert down to the 63mm we need for the existing hard pipes.

So - if you can specify which size outlets to have on the end tank, if you're sticking with the rest of the stock hardpipes, you'd want 63mm on either end, then get a 63mm 90 degree elbow and a 63mm 45 degree elbow.

If you go for an intercooler with 76mm outlets, then you will need a 76-63mm 90 degree and a 76-63mm 45 degree.

Thanks confused, so effectively they're going 76mm at the intercooler to 63mm on the rest of the engine so I need to get the 76mm intercooler - thank you!
I've ordered the hoses already from the linked site so hopefully this will be a nice little easy mod now!

Err.... You will likely need a 90 and a 45, rather than two 90's. I hope that's what you found in the link!

My bad for not double-checking the Staged Upgrades thread properly - yes, as @Nick Mann says a 45 and a 90! If you hadn't already ordered the silicon elbows, you could have got the intercooler with 63mm inlet/outlet and kept it 63mm throughout instead.

Luckily I bought the 45 and the 90, I bought them before I bought the intercooler but at least they'll work! Thanks though guys!

The turbozentrum UK website sell 63mm intercoolers so that might be a cheaper mod for all the future tuners
