    State Of The Markets

Hello folks, it’s been a while! Hope all is well.

Having previously owned 3 different UK import VR4 saloons I find myself looking at the estates. Since the last VR4 I had I’ve dabbled in a few silly motors but then decided to grow up and have spent the last few years running a 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero estate. It’s currently the longest I’ve owned the same car at nearly 3.5 years.

What’s the market like these days for Legnum VR4s? I’ve seen some ropier examples at the lower end and some fresh imports at the higher end but strangely nothing in the middle.

Toying with the idea of getting one and sticking it on LPG like I did with my last one courtesy of Adaxo. Hopefully he’s still around!

Hi Gib. Adam is still about and still involved with LPG stuff.

VR4's in general are getting more rare and suffering from the dreaded tin worm. There doesn't seem to be much of a market for them at the moment which is why scrappy old cars are worthless and excellent examples recently imported are up for big money. I'm not sure they sell quickly at the top end of the range though.
There's still a fairly regular supply of new people arriving on the forum which suggests there is still interest.

    Good luck with your search.

VR4 Legnums and Galants are now available and easier to import to the USA, so I have seen more info on Facebook re new owners in the States and Canada.
Also the prices in Japan have gone up considerably!, I've seen them asking and they are selling at £10,000 to £14,000 GBP, and that is before shipping and import and vat tax if bringing to the uk!
Updating Soon!! 1998 Legnum VR4, fully serviced every 4500 miles. Fully Amsoil'd. Falken 453's, EVO 8 FQ320 rear diff.

@Louis that's so unfair! A year or so back I investigated bringing in a later Legnum VR-4 to NZ and I was told categorically that it is not allowed any more as they don't meet emission standards. I'd have thought the USA and Canada would have more strict emission regulations than we do but it seems not.
I really don't know what I'd do if I had to replace my 1997 one as nothing else I've seen appeals to me.
Maybe it won't be an issue though as 91 fuel has just gone over $2.65 per litre here in my city in the last few days so I won't be able to afford to fill up a car anyway. It seems to go up by a cent or two every few days and I have no idea why, surely that can't be blamed on COVID-19.

I believe if a car is over 25 years old it will be classed as a classic vehicle and won't have to meet the same US restrictions as a new car.
