This wouldn't be possible according to the specs in this thread... (hope I haven't read it wrong!!)

I thought the only differences with the Type S were 225/50r16 tyres, Recaro interior (option) and they were all tiptronic. So, if you have a manual VR-4, it MUST be a Type V.
Have you read my last post?
All prefacelift have 205/55r16 tyres, both type S and type V

From what you're saying it seems like you have a type S
I have a Type V facelift with Recaro interior.. Even though it seems that most manual VR-4 are Type V it doesn't mean that all have to be..
    /Kalle -
Now sold: Legnum VR4 -99 trigger mauve
and a Mitsubishi Colt GTi -90 (also sold)

There is no such thing as a pre-facelift Type-V. There was a VR-4, or a VR-4 Type-S. Nearly all pre-facelifts are Type-S, and nearly all are Tips, but manual was an option.

The type-V was introduced with the 1998 facelift.

    Gotcha.
Didn't realise that the pre-facelift Type S had a manual option.
I was treating that as the main factor in thinking mine wasn't a Type S.

    Thanks dudes.

Not sure about the engine oil recommendation, seems like an 'oily' recommendation to me Amsoils TSO 0w-30 is superior to both and will last longer, let the engine run cooler and with less pumping losses ie more MPG and MOre available power.
If you have a problem with getting Amsoil just contact me on 07949 944523 email don@performanceoilsltd.co.uk or web at http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/

from what i have researched, type-s has the option of manual and auto. and type v is only auto. Not sure though cause there is a guy around my area saying that mine is missing things a "lower version". But from what I have found it is a type s not a V, so i got no idea what he is on about

Servicing is more important if your short of cash and it ism't running correctly. Was your caps lock button stuck?
