    Steering wheel

hey guys im after a new steering wheel, mines boring looking but i want to keep the airbag (you never no when youll need it). I understand some evos came out with momo steering wheels, ive looked on trade me but cant find anything.

Would the local mitsi dealer have them? i know they will be expensive are there any other places i could try, ill go have a look on ebay but not keen on buying stuff outside of nz.

    Any help apreciated

I think you'll have to get it certified.

i read sum where that it's illegal 2 replace a steering wherl that was fitted with a air with a steering wheel that dosent.... i think it's on the LTSA web site might pay 2 check that one up bro, and _simon_ is right u do have 2 get it certed because it's not just a matter of swaping the wheels like in a normal car...

I just checked the Cert Thresholds and you have to get certification if the vechile has air bags as original equipment. Last time I asked about the cost of certification it was going to be around $400. That was for suspension but I think it would be the same as they basically check the whole car anyway.

I've attached the Cert Thresholds, it says April 04 but I only downloaded it a couple of months ago when I failed a warrent for tints, had to make sure that I was right

If the evo steering wheel has an airbag you should be fine.

If you took the airbag out, the SRS light would come on and you wouldnt be able to get your WOF.

However, do you expect the people looking at your car to know that its not an origional wheel? Just say its a factory option.

If you want a non-airbag wheel, wait till you do some other mods that need cert, and get the lot done at once. From what I have heard its the same cost anyway.

The V6 sports in the UK came with a Momo airbag wheel...
Dunno if that was even available in NZ though. Just a thought.
