Hi all!
Here's the official thread continuing on from here, finalising the details and sounding out attendance
When
The event will be on Saturday 9th November 2013, starting at roughly 9:30 AM (give or take 30 mins) and going on until mid-late afternoon (5ish)
Where
This event will be at Area 52 Autosport in Nottinghamshire, the full address is as follows;
Area 52 Autosport
Unit 2 Park Court
Park Lane Business Park
Kirkby-in-Ashfield
Nottinghamshire
NG17 9LE
When driving towards the venue, be sure to obey the speed limit, Nottinghamshire is a for average speed checks and mobile speed traps, there were at least 2 people issued with fines for the last event. Please don't get caught out, it'll ruin your day.
When approaching the industrial estate, this (badly drawn by yours truly) map will show you where to go:
What
The main focus of the day will be dyno runs and tuning sessions. Those wanting a dyno run will be done in the morning, those wanting tuning sessions will be done in the afternoon. There's a list below of who is doing what.
There may also be a BBQ if some kind soul can supply / man one? I'll happily supply a few bob worth of meat. There'll also be some rather nice pies courtesy of @Davezj and a spread of sandwiches, biscuits, tea and coffee by the lovely Cheryl at A52. I'll also be bringing a shedload of snackage to help keep people happy.
No doubt the usual "lets quickly fix this" events will happen, always great to get fellow club members to help with a problem or vice versa
Not sure about any other events to host, if people have any ideas please throw them in
How (much)
Dyno runs will be £40 for a best-of-3 run, this will include a printout showing you power, torque, air-fuel ratio and boost. This will also include professional detcan (knock) monitoring too, so is a great way to get a health check for your cars engine
Simple tuning sessions will be £100 and encompasses around 20-30 minutes tuning time on a dyno, this is enough to safely get moderate gains in power (up to 10% more power and 15% more torque*) and will include a before-and-after dyno printout.
More complicated tuning sessions will start at around £150 and will encompass around 45 minutes on the dyno, this is a good solution for those who want to push things a bit further and get extended testing to see how things change over time (car gets hot etc), up to 15-20% gains in power and 30-40% gains in torque could be had*
Other services may be available on the day such as auto-electrical work, please ask in advance and keep in mind its expected to be a busy day
Its also conceivable that N/A V6 and auto-box tuning could be done on the day. Again, please ask in advance.
* Figures quoted are for 1996-2003 VR-4s and are entirely dependent on the health of your car and what supporting mods you've got. In addition, anyone getting any mapping work done will be required to sign a disclaimer, Area 52 Autosport will also not be responsible for the work being done on the day, they are just leasing their dyno and its operators.
