Defo sounds like an air lock, possibly your water pump tho, if there is no water circulation, would suggest that too. Have you tried forcing water in there using a hose when the engine is cold to see if you can get some water flowing through the block? DONT do it when the block is hot, unless you want it to crack! (Im sure you probably knew this, being a clever chappie and all)
BTW Im not sure if this is relevant, but there is a recall on the interior heating fan control thingie, relating to a multiplug on the passenger side footwell, which can get disturbed adn short stuff out.
From what i can get from you thread, it could be a combination of faults....
    Hope you get it sorted!
    No longer empty and frantic...

Thanx to Paul (PSBarham) today for help with the GDi.. We managed to trace 2 leaks in the cooling system after Paul manufactured up summat to pressurise the system .. Fixed on leak as it was just a coolant pipe not properly situated. The other is a split pipe . But is going to need me to the car up on ramps to get to it from underneath the car as it go's into the rear of the block..
There was a Hell of a lot of air in the system of which we managed to get most of out. After i have replaced the split pipe, maybe i'll be able to clear the rest out to..
Not sure if this is going to cure the problem with the Pinking, but heres to fingers crossed..
    Thanx again Paul..

Not sure if it's been brought up before, but GDIs are noturious for having problems with the high pressure fuel pump which causes all sorts of running problems.

Not been mentioned yet, but will be noted.. Sort the water out first and then on from there..
Tried to read fault codes from the MUT the other day

Neutral light flashed 5 times (1/2 sec intervals)
Then the gearbox light joined in for another 4 flashes at which point the ABS light decided to join in and they all continued to flash at 1/2 sec intervals together.. Switched of and on and the same thing over and over..
Reset ECU but still the same ..

The water spot on, there is No more stalling although it is ticking over to low(600-650rpm). On steady throttle you can feel it surging and then falling ? feels like your constantly on off the throttle, very very very very lightly though.. Also if your booting it, it seems to struggle for fuel above 4500rpm, like it's being starved or maybe missing..

looks like its time to get the multi meter out and adjust the tps , also check the fuel filter , wherever the hell that is

TPS checked, it was a little way out but not a lot. My next move was the fuel filter as i had discussed this with Andy and he suggested i take a looky.
