As per the title, although I am reasonably happy with the performance of my recently acquired V6, I'd like to know what limits the power output to it's 160odd bhp. Anyone here know much about tuning this engine???

But only 147 ft/lbs of torque. That engine was used in the Galant VR-M.... And Zedy (who bought one) found the V6-24 engine quicker, on account of the Galants extra weight.Originally Posted by zentac
is the engine in the v6 sport the same as the v6 24v?

Think the sport has better set up suspension, don't know about the other bits. Mine is a sport and a manual, not a big fan of auto's, my sister has an FTO and couldn't get used to it at all. What power output is the V6 24V? My sport is apparently just under 160 bhp.Originally Posted by strapping young lad

Hmm... Interesting your comments on the suspension. V6 Sports come under a lot of fire on here for having suspension that's a bit 'skittish'. A set of progressive-rate lowering springs sorts things out though.Originally Posted by V6nut
Regarding power outputs. This seems to vary, depending on the year, but I've only ever seen Mitsubishi quote an official figure of 161bhp.
It was just an assumption about the sport and handling, never driven any others so don't know. Most other manufacturers put sports suspension on to produce a sport version rather than producing more power, how else could there be a clio sport 1.2??!!! I understand you owned a sport Kieran, my suspension seems superb for a car this size, what do the progressive rate springs do?
Rather than explain, have a read of these

Also, search for the terms 'eibach' and you should get the general idea
that would be telling but if my little scheme does work then i will look soOriginally Posted by V6nut
