    Keighley trade center, summary

    Hi everyone!
I've searched this forum and found out a little about Keighley trade center that often have cheap VR4s 4 sale.

I think it would be in place of a summary since the info on Keighley is spread out a bit.

    So here it goes:

Gathered from the following threads: http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthr...light=keighley

work minutes from that garage and although they have had in just a few decent condition cars most of stock is ragged and prob not worth buying

high mileage and shabby conditions as far as I saw

I assumed best cars in showroom NOT on forecourt - they had a very tidy Evo, on the outside at least, some weks ago but I looked under bonnet of a GT4 in showroom presumably prepped for sale and air filter was filthy

Not a good example or inspiring of the quality of product or care they may have taken in choosing or preparing the cars

You need to check place for youself and there may be a bargain that YOU want

I think you are likely to be disappointed
    /Chris

Cars at KTC can be rough in appearance - mirrors and/or lights missing and at least one car, a GT4 I looked at in showroom - ? place for better cars/bigger prices - had air filter that did not look as if it had been cleaned - had car had any service/TLC to prepare for sale?

Look but prepare to be disappointed

Stay away from Keighley Car Trade Centre
I think the general consensus is that they are not big into customer service, the cars are not very well prepared, but if you look hard before you buy there are bargains to be had.

There have been discussions about this pace before - If I stumble accross any I'll post the links here.

Keighley Trade center is a frequent topic on this forum, and also some of the others I frequent. What's interesting is that the general opinion of them is the same.... The cars are low auction grade, some have evidence of accident damage/previous repairs/poor history. The staff will haggle with you, but don't expect any after-sales service from them.

Don't write them off completeley, as a couple of people on here have brought VR-4s from there an they've been largely ok. But don't expect to see a VR-4 as tidy as your last one, because you won't!

Go in with your eyes WIDE open and ask lots of questions!

Hi, I went to see it Good Friday and the other 3 they had.

This particular one has rear end damage and someone has tried to break into both front doors.

The white one failed the SVA test.

The purple one had major damage to the splitter and didn't drive particularly well.

The other silver one was just as rough.

The pictures on the web site make their cars look great but they are not all that.

I went up a few years back when I was looking at FTO`s and their stock was shabby. They also had a large hand written sign on the wall saying now trading as some other company which kind of put me off.... but that was about 7 years ago

So basically, they are ****e but occasionally get a few fairly good, cheap motors but you need to know exactly what your looking at?

    I find them fine.

They sell cheap... but dont really care about the cars.

They dont give a monkeys really... but i was lucky.

If you view the cars well and have a really deep look into them, you can come away with a bargain. I got my VR4 for £5k... and its in great condition.

Basically, id assume its an auction.

What he said. Had I not have found this place and not taken notice of the advice given to me here, the car I bought from them would be in pieces right now. Tread with caution and make sure you know what you're looking for, haggle with them like mad if you decide to buy and what you save on your budget pour back into it with TLC.

Thats where i just picked up my 97 Legnum for £5500 36000 miles, basically i'd agree they dont really care about the cars, loads of modded rx7's millions of guages everywhere, and most front dams smashed to bits, guess they've had a hard life on the track.

I wanted the silver one they are advertising on autotrader, but the family is driving it, and it has been broken into ! tbh it was in a mess !

They own the trade centre a 4x4 centre and beech motor company.
The better quality machines are in beeches.

Luckily last week they had about 4 legnums & 2 galants vr4's

I drove off in a very nice green one
Just been serviced in japan before shipping

First jap car i've owned, biggest grin for 200 Mile drive home.

One word of warning, either take a pocket full of wedge !! or a passport/ piccy driving liecence to get a bankers draft at one of many local banks, they dont take any plastic at all !

    Al.

If anyone has anything to add to this discussion, please do!
I am looking to import a Legnum VR4 to Sweden, and the easiest way to go seems to be through a specialist in importing japanese sports car from Japan or England. One of them says that their partner in England is Keighley and from what I've heard from you guys I'm very sceptic in letting the importer buy from them. It would maybe have been another deal if I could inspect it myself...

    Well, enough said from me!
    /Kalle -
Now sold: Legnum VR4 -99 trigger mauve

    Hi,
Well done man, good collection of useful quotes that will help others make a decision, I spoke to them(KTC) by phone when I was looking for a Legnum, they seemed ok, but I had to do all the calling and asking. They said that they had new stock, cars coming but it took too long (5weeks) and then the UK SVA test changed and I think they had to do more work than expected to get the cars through. I ended up going to see a few cars from private buyers and I found one I liked (luckily), there are usually a few cars for sale on here on the site and I am sure the people selling them would be more than helpful with photos etc, also another member may be able to give an independant second opinion. Put a post in the "Want To Buy" (wtb), FOR SALE section.
You could probably get a Ryaniar flight from Vasteras to Prestwick Scotland or Stanstead, London, buy one and drive it to Hull, get a ferry, and back to Sweden, could be a good trip, cheers Louis

Pinch of salt required, i got mine from there and was a bobby bargain, but again im a mechanic by trade and know what to look for. Haggled like an asian in a market (sorry if i offended anyone) and got nearly a grand off the sticker price. Been well impressed and mine has been very very reliable. well apart from me hitting road debris and breaking my gearbox but that wasnt the cars fault.

Not much more to add rather than go with eyes WIDE OPEN, like said before there may be a decent car to be hada the right money.

In my personal opinion it wouldnt be worth the petrol to travel and see any.

No worries, seems the estates are a trifle more popular than the saloons!

I done an 8 hour round trip to these guys last year to look at at Mauve FL saloon & even though the photos where Mauve, the car was dark blue (number plate was the same though). Climate didn't work, gearbox was pi55ing out oil & major wear on steering wheel & drivers seat. All in under 45,000 Hmmm, not convinced. Also liked the way it had an MOT but no rear fog. Newer stock looks ok (under 10 years), but not convinced with any of the stuff that they didn't need to SVA. Might be worth a look if you are more local to them than I am, but wouldn't bother travelling too far!
