    Exclamation Advice needed!!!

Hi Guys and Gals... Need some of your wisdom and advice...

I am currently working for a company that pay me fairly well and I have a comfortable lifestyle with no great stress apart from a complete idiot for a boss...

On the other hand, I have an international company offering me a job which have a good reputation in the market place and could potentially give me a fantastic career with the chance of earning shed loads of money!!!

The new job would be worth £10K per year more, plus £38K bonus more should I hit all my targets (sounds great), however, I would be taking myself out of my comfortable job into a more stressful job where more work would be required and I wouldn't have a perminant position until I clear my probationary period...

What should I do? Or what would do? How would you come to a conclusion?

I know this is fairly trivial in the grand scheme of things but your input and advice would be greatfully received...

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

How much stress? How would it affect you? Would you bring office troubles home?

How successful do you think you would be? Are you able to cope with the job? Would you grow into it in the long term so as to make it less stressful?

I'd have to be pretty damn sure to turn that much money down. Unless my basic was a lot bigger than it is!!

Better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

I thought of that.... not sure how it would go down in my current position, I don't want to be forced to leave 'cos they say NO and then decide not to take the other job and have to stay....

They'd know I'd considered another post and probably wouldn't ever give me a promotion, so I need to be careful...

I'll have to engineer the conversation so it doesn't look obvious.... not sure how... but thanks for the advice!!!

    Don't ask.... don't get!!!!

    Smile Crikey....

...are your prospective employers the art chosing department of the NHS?

    Story here

I've just made a similar decision. Stay with a very comfortable job on reasonable money or make the break and go self-employed - although I've yet to pay myself a wage let alone a £38k bonus

I chose the tough option primarily 'cos I can see that in the next couple of years my circumstances wouldn't suit being 'unwaged' and pressurised. Additionally I have an idea of a lifestyle which I want to achieve - this would be impossible in any job I was qualified to apply for (25 days holiday, etc...).

It's hard work and I'm aware that I may or may not be successful, however I'm also aware that I can, and have plenty of time to, bounce back should the need arise.

Yours won't be an easy decision, unless you are completely money motivated, so think long and hard - speak to their current employees (re: turnover of staff, probation periods especially).

....and most of all good luck whatever you choose.

    Blimey!!! Thanks for the advice!!!

Another quick question, how much emphasis would you place on 'hear say'? I've heard that people have left because "They treat you like sh!t", however, if I took that type of comment as true... I'd never go out in the sun, lie in bed or even eat anything other than fresh air...

    what do you think??

If youve got a stress free job and enough money to have a good lifestyle then stick with it. I would take a £10k pay cut to work closer to home in a stress free environment.

I hear what you're saying Richard but I have the chance to earn some 'serious money', if I stay where I am, I would contimue to earn a good wage but wouldn't be motivated which would eventually take it's toll I think....

You may be right and I'll take it into consideration... thanks for the advice!!

Sounds daft, but my current job bores me rigid - And the fact that I don't feel at all motivated gets quite stressful - You start feeling guilty about it, but it's all to easy to stay 'in the comfort zone' - Irony is, the 'Comfort zone' may not be that pleasant - Your'e just used to it.

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    a wise man once said....

"You never have to be looking to leave you're job, but always know your worth!!"...

Kieren... you should take that advice, I did and at least I'm in the position of having another option, even if I don't take it...

    Regards,

    Mike
