    Apexi RSM figures

I have just installed my Apexi RSM today the same as Dave has done.

I am concerned about the difference in figures compared to Dave.

Dave, if you look at this, I set my power loss up as a Legacy as it's 4WD and weight is 1650kg and I input 1680kg for my VR4 - so it was the closest comparison.

I went through each 10kmh and adjusted the power loss as per the table in the instructions.

Took the car for a blast down the motorway in auto INSERT INTO post VALUES (same as you) and got a reading of 314PS @ 6044 rpm ! Now that is either great for me and bad for you or I have done something wrong - what do you think ?

I will test 0-100kmh tonight to give another comparison to yours also - too many people and old bill around at the moment :nono:

Over 300 BHP at the wheels would seem to indicate something bad for you!!! INSERT INTO post VALUES (well good really, but you know what I mean! )

You say you set it up using another cars details? I will check all the settings on mine and give you a rundown when I get chance.

Your car was lowered and you had different wheels done by the previous owner, you could be lucky and the previous owner also fettled with the engine and boost!! wouldn't surprise me you lucky bugger!

Filter and exhaust must improve things a bit over the standard.. not a greal deal according to some but it could be a nice increase if only slight.

Dave - thanks would appreciate a comparison - is it safe to put an auto into neutral at such speeds as 100mph + as they suggest to set up your own individual car ?

Mark - doubt I would be so lucky - probably just set something up wrong - wait for 0-100kmh times in a bit - going out in a bit

    0-62mph times

Just been out and managed a few 0-100kmh INSERT INTO post VALUES (0-62mph) times. To begin with I did all of these from standing starts INSERT INTO post VALUES (i.e. no holding revs whilst applying the brakes):

    Auto:

    Run 1: 6.06 secs
    Run 2: 6.60 secs
    Run 3: 6.42 secs

    Tiptronic:

    Run 1: 5.84 secs
    Run 2: 6.19 secs

All five were done on different stretches of roads INSERT INTO post VALUES (due to no decent areas around where I live off the public roads)

Will post more results as and when.

Sounds like the times are pretty much as expected! I only did 1 run, its quite tough getting a stretch to do a 0-60 dash without being interrupted!

Interesting that you can get better times with tiptronic, and that you didn't hold the car on the brakes. I found I could only get a good launch if I did this! I used to have an Auto Rover Stirling and used to shift that from N to D at about 5000rpm, but I wouldn't consider this in the VR4 bearing in mind expensive repair bills!

Will sort out the details of my RSM tomorrow for you

Incidentally did you reset the G sensor after you installed it and does it read 0 PS when you are stationary? I can get mine to say I have 500HP if I tweak with the lost power settings!!! hehehehe!

Yes mate I did recaliberate it and it does show zero PS when stationery

I will test out some times holding the brakes over the next few days too

Here are Dave's figures compared to Pete's:

    Basic Settings:
CYL 6 INSERT INTO post VALUES (Pete-same)
SPD 4 INSERT INTO post VALUES (Pete-same)
ADJ 100% INSERT INTO post VALUES (Pete-same)
TIRE 100% INSERT INTO post VALUES (Pete-99%)
WEIGHT 1660Kg INSERT INTO post VALUES (Pete-1680kg)

Lost power settings: INSERT INTO post VALUES (Legacy settings-used by Pete)

    10- 3- INSERT INTO post VALUES (1)
    20- 4- INSERT INTO post VALUES (2)
    30- 4- INSERT INTO post VALUES (3)
    40- 6- INSERT INTO post VALUES (5)
    50- 8- INSERT INTO post VALUES (7)
    60- 11- INSERT INTO post VALUES (9)
    70- 14- INSERT INTO post VALUES (12)
    80- 18- INSERT INTO post VALUES (15)
    90- 24- INSERT INTO post VALUES (19)
    100- 28- INSERT INTO post VALUES (24)
    110- 34- INSERT INTO post VALUES (29)
    120- 38- INSERT INTO post VALUES (35)
    130- 44- INSERT INTO post VALUES (43)
    140- 48- INSERT INTO post VALUES (52)
    150- 52- INSERT INTO post VALUES (62)
    160- 54- INSERT INTO post VALUES (75)
    170- 56- INSERT INTO post VALUES (92)
    180- 57- INSERT INTO post VALUES (115)
    190- 58- INSERT INTO post VALUES (148)

As you can see up to 130kmh Pete's settings are lower than Dave's

There must be something wrong here ? Mind you - 0-60 times are not affected by the above.

Sorry Dave - edited in error - meant to quote and edit

I'm not one for flooring the car whenever so I've hardly ever tested the car for 0-60 times, however I must admit mine does seem to pick up faster than yours... I watched the clip you made of the speedo and rev counter while at the pod.
60+ and especially looking at yours I'd predict 70 onwards mine is quite abit quicker. onder: I'm not saying it is, it just APPEARS to be.

The claimed 0-60 times from Mitsubishi are 6.2 seconds for the Legnum and 5.9 for the Saloon.

Not to worry Pete.....the info is still there!

Seems your tyres are smaller than standard???? How so? This may serve to improve yor 0-60 times......but it would be marginal! Also are you still in 2nd when you get to 60 INSERT INTO post VALUES (100kph)?

So have you done any more runs, power or otherwise? Also are you running any modifications?

Tyres are 215/45/17 which I calculated to be 99.03% rolling circumferance of the standard tyres.

I have HKS super power flow and super dragger fitted - no other performance mods though and never touched boost etc

Going to try and do some more times in a bit

Dave - I reckon you need to set yours to the Legacy settings as I have so we can then accurately compare figures.

Also noticed your BHP peaked at 5500rpm on your earlier post but mine was at 6044 ?

I can change mine, but it is simple maths......we are only a couple of PS out so I dont think there is much of an issue......I consistently get 213PS at 5500RPM.......this works with a 280 at the flywheel figure, and is consistent with the max power at 5500 rpm quoted. The exhaust and filter will have some effect. Is the Super Dragger just a back box replacement?

    QTR MILE TIMES

Just been on a stint of 400m INSERT INTO post VALUES (qtr mile runs) with results as below:

Run 1: Tiptronic - standing start

    0-400m = 14.64secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 141kmh/87.6mph)
    0-200m = 9.45secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 122kmh/75.8mph)
    0-100m = 6.30secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 97kmh/60.3mph)

    Run 2: Tiptronic - 2000 revs

    0-400m = 14.73secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 141kmh/87.6mph)
    0-200m = 9.49secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 125kmh/77.7mph)
    0-100m = 6.28secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 93kmh/57.8mph)

Run 3: Auto - standing start

    0-400m = 14.92secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 141kmh/87.6mph)
    0-200m = 9.21secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 120kmh/74.5mph)
    0-100m = 6.53secs INSERT INTO post VALUES (speed 99kmh/61.5mph)

Some interesting points there. Speed at 400m identical on all 3 runs. Holding revs seems to make no improvement in time. Auto a little faster 0-200m but slower by 400m.

Just done a couple of runs with the new wheels on INSERT INTO post VALUES (Super Leggeras are only 6.9kg per wheel in 17") and beat two times already:

0-62mph in auto = 5.95s INSERT INTO post VALUES (0.11s off previous best)

0-400m INSERT INTO post VALUES (qtr mile) in tiptronic = 14.54s INSERT INTO post VALUES (0.10s off previous best)

    Great going !

Glad you got the Super Leggeras.... are you getting any vibrations ? Did it come with hub centering rings...or is it a perfect fit for the VR4 ?
BTW, they look great on your car.

Thanks Ed - I luv 'em too mate !

No longer any wheel wobble so £1100 well spent, and yes they came with metal 67.1mm centre bore rings
