    (Another) VR4 for sale

I'm a straw-chewing old farmer who's never posted a thread before - I usually only come here for the jokes, but I'm selling my VR4 and thought maybe it might be of interest to members here (if any still have a driving licence). It's a 2001 silver Ralliart VR4 Type S with all the usual kit. 33K miles, bog standard apart from Evo 7 wheels & brakes (learned my lesson from my last one!) Fitted Tracker, Speedsafe & Smartnav for getting home from the pub. Used to belong to the MD of Colt cars. VGC as they say in car showrooms. I need £12k for it and if anyone wants the private plate (V8 BAT) it'll be £15K total. (New Reg values the plate at £4,100). Battled with this blasted computer for ages trying to attach a photo and thought I had but it seems to have disappeared. If anyone finds a stray photo or wants to tell me in words of one syllable how to attach it I'll be grateful.

Hi Marcus, well I'm sure we'd all like to see your car, we'd don't see many silver Galant VR4's. Legnums? Yeah, common as a common thing ( ), but I've not seen many Ralliart saloons in that colour.

OK, not sure about single syllable thing, but here goes:

    Haha! Good post Marcus.

How many owners apart from Colt MD and yourself?

If you still have problems with the photos after Jimbo's explanation you could email them to me and I'll upload them for you. Send as many as you wish as photos do generate interest.

    here goes

Thanks Guys - at least it has partly worked. Regards owners I'm the third. First was MD Colt cars, then a near neighbour of mine, another farmer businessman who previously drove a VR4, did a huge mileage with it and upgraded to this one. He only had it for a month or so when his business was taken over and he was presented with a company BMW. That's when I got it -last November. One of the air-con pipes was leaking so the climate control didn't - but that was fixed. Otherwise it's been no trouble. Now going to follow the instructions to see if I can attach photo. Fingers crossed!
Ahhh! It says the file is too large! I'll keep working on it.
Anyone know how to make a picture file smaller?

Do you have any photo editing software?

Either alter the size of the photo, or the lower the resolution.

    Very nice....

Is that a stainless exhaust, or is it just very clean?

It's not SS. I intended putting on a full "turbo-back" system - there's a firm up here who specialise in that area - but being Scottish was waiting for this one to rot first.

THAT is a very smart car Marcus. Surprised that there are no scrapes from hand-built country stone walls when driving back from the pub!

CD changer? And I guess the costly cambelt service has yet to be done at 45k. Momo steering wheel? Anything wrong that you are aware of?

    Thanks,

    Rich

Nope -single CD player. Proper Recaro seats & Momo steering wheel though - all the Ralliart kit. Nothing wrong at all. My local Mitsi dealer has had a long relationship with Ralliart & Evos etc. The services are done promptly (FSH available) and are reasonably pain-free. Sensational is the only word for it - feels a lot quicker than my last one (2000 Ralliart estate) which is strange but the garage swears it's had nothing done to it.
    Cheers

Very nice looking car, to be honest tho the price looks a bit steep, I would have though £8k was a more realistic price. I could be wrong, not that i have anwhere near that much kicking about.
Hope you get a good price for it!

I've been offered a lot more than that to trade it in. Guess that's the way I'll go if there's no interest here. To answer Rich's query about stone wall damage (or the lack of it)- they all fell down about 15 years ago when I had a beast called an Overfinch which was basically a Range Rover with a Chrysler 6.3 litre engine - every time you revved it something fell down! Handled like a barrowload of turnips & scared the sh*t out of passengers. Good fun though.
    Keep up the good work!

You probably blew them down by revving the engine up!
Good luck, i do hope you get the right price, would be a shame to undersell it, looks mint!

15 years ago all the farmers had Range Rovers. Those were the good old days. My other car is an "N" reg L200. Number plate values are fickle things. Give "New Reg" a ring - they'll tell you what it's worth.

Yea, those Overfinch Rangers are awesome machines. Went out in one in the desert in the Middle East. The extra torque was useful in sand but interestingly the Arabs still swear by the old Landrovers and Bedford trucks if they want to go deep into the desert. It's mainly to do with reliability and also because they are easy to repair if a breakdown occurs miles from anywhere.

I'm very tempted by your VR4 Marcus ....... it's definitely worth more than £8k but I'm very surprised that you have offers more than that on a trade-in. I'd go for it if that's the case. I guess it depends on what the trade-in is for. For something expensive a dealer can offer significantly more for yours. For one comparison, Bristol Mitsubishi offered £2,800 trade-in for MY VR4 when it had 42,000 miles on the clock against a new Mitsy bog standard saloon.

Wish you lived a bit closer so that I could have a look ........ maybe if I get a weekend free I'll pop up for some Scottish hospitality and a sedate country drive! Not sure which would be the more dramatic. In the meantime, of course, it's my fault if you sell it on.

I suspect the dealer is over-allowing against the car you you are buying.

If you ask the dealer for a cash price, I'll bet it will be a lot lower than the part-ex price.

Also, it can depend if the car is subject to Capital Allowances for tax purposes.

I've had another word with the dealer and I reckon I could get him down at least a grand if I sold this privately so by that token I can come down to £10.750. I'd like to see it go to a member here - everyone's so enthusiastic.

thats probably about the right money, possibly 11K because of your low miles - i sold my 2001 VR4 in august for £10.5K (52K miles with extras)

£8K for trade in is about right too - thats what i was quoted (rip off b'stads )
