    Brake Upgrades

    Just a quick question...

What full brake conversions/upgrades are available for the VR4 (esp. pre facelift) apart from the Brembos and KADs? ARe there any 4-pot upgrades?

Are there alternative products available that any NZ members are using (seem to have greater choices for all round upgrades than UK)?

    Cheers

    Hey Pezz

I've gone with National 8 grooved up front, drilled Camskills at the rear, EBC Ceramic red pads up front, greens at the back, Motul 800 brake fluid and braided hoses all round. I had NO brake fade at Nurburgring last weekend after 3 consecutive laps.

Seriously impressed. I don't intend to that many track days in the VR and as a relatively cheap way to upgrade, you can't go wrong.

Paul the rear disks are camskill and I think Gary refers to areTHESE

Gary I have exactly the same disk and pad set up up front but have had brake fade and severe droning after some High Speed braking...Maybe my discs are warped a lil? Camskill's fronts seem ok too.. not sure if I should give them a shot..

I may actually change the rears to help this time...

How often should brake fluid be changed?

    Cheers

The droning does sound like you may have a slight warp. Did you run them in properly? Find a brake specialist who can skim your discs before buying more - it's a lot cheaper!

Hmm I was careful when running in back in december last year... altho there may have been a couple of moments where my foot stayed on brake after a heart stopping braking incident...

I will get someone to have a look before thinking about shelling out more cash tho, like you say Hope they're not past saving....

Derek.. That does suprise me that you have had brake fade with the EBC Red Stuff Ceramics.. As i had discussed with you before i had Red Stuff Ceramics mated with EBC Turbo Groove Discs and never had brake fade ! They just got better and better, even when they was smoke coming off them, there was still no fade.. Maybe the National 8 Grooves don't mate well with the Redstuffs..

Anyway, i hope you can save your discs and they don't need an expensive replacement..

    Cheers
