Any Further UpdatesOriginally Posted by AllBeItMine
If funds permit, get yourself a GREX oil cooler. It comes with oil filter relocation kit (as a bonus you will also have a place to stick your oil temp and pressure sensors at ) ... I am getting one soon, so I can throw out my "modified" (bended and welded) aliuminum oil filter bracket.Originally Posted by AllBeItMine
Btw, did you get you front engine mount modified?
Would that to be like thisOriginally Posted by valmes
did you get it? nice stuff!Originally Posted by WODJ
Yes, I got this 1.. Just another thing on the list to fit B4 the Ring
Wodj, will it fit ec5w?
Does it have a thermostat?
PS: Btw, I can't use pager... not yet anyway. I've been either too lazy or too busy to pay my fee to clubvr4. (sorry guys!) Once payment bounced back I didn't feel like doing it again (way too much paperwork at the bank for my taste)... I asked my mother to create a paypal account for me (she lives in Switzerland... there is no way I can register with paypal from Russia - I guess ppl at paypal don't trust Russians ) as soon as that is done I will be able to use pager Sad story j/k.
Well, until snow melts, no usefull news from this part of the world anyway!
It's Universal. Make it Fit
Thermostat does not come with it !!

so it has been a little quiet on this front... for quite some time actually. oops:
but i went and lifted the bonnet of the car and tried to get the latest jig saw puzzle back together.
so finally made some progress. wahoo. might even get my motivation back now daylight savings is here and summer is coming. :-D
lookin great! damn from back in march...
VR-4
well its done.
i am taking it into a mates workshop next weekend to put it on a hoist and give it a spanner check - its been sitting so long i am terrified i have forgotten to tighten something. Then I fill it full of fluids and see if it goes.
once its running - then we will look at the ecu. dont think anything really exciting is going to happen till i get it to a tuners...
i'll get hold of a decent camera and take some better pics when i get a chance.
its still at bit bitsy at the moment cause i am still running the MAF - but once i can get rid of that i can setup the cold air box and proper airfilter arrangement. should look less moari then.
Cool

I love Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 !
well i turned the key today. after spending all morning making up the dumpipes, downpipes and screamers.
it actually started first time. which ****en amazed me! i was seriously like - WTF the engines been sitting for 15months with no oil in it. and i just put a set of jumper leads on her and away she went.
was wicked
for
about 25 seconds
...
i have never ever
seen
that
much
oil
move so fast
out of
an engine
before
was pretty surprising actually.
the engine idle for about 25 seconds and i was all smiles then i hear this funny noise like somebody blowing bubbles in a bottle of coke with a straw. and i realise that one of my turbo oil feeds isn't hooked up righ and there is 4 litres of oil on the ground
that was coool.
/sigh
so i clean it all up. fix the feed. degrease the engine, degrease the workshop. put another 4 litres of oil in it. and start it again.
this time i get a drip..... drip..... drip and its coming from behind my modified oil bracket. seems its not flush.
so i take it all off. oil goes every where again. put another gasket in there and put it all back together. bit of a mission actually cause i have to remove the starter to get to it. clean up again. start it again.
now thats fixed. but now there is a dam drip drip drip of water. trace that to a perished water hose. replace that. wahoo - fixed that.
go to put the intercooler piping back on after replacing the hose and somehow manage to catch a bracket on teh top of the radiator. the plastic top of the radiator. the cheap, thin, plastic top of the radiator. catch it in such a way as this little brack thing comes off and takes a chunk of plastic with it.
great.
now i have a hole in the top of my radiator.
/sigh.
i think - that can wait. start it again.
no more leaks.
hazar!
i am actually amazed at this point. all that stupid piping and plumbing i did is all holding onto the exhaust gases quite well. no leaks.
but there is this strange ticking noise.
which takes me about 2 hours to trace.
i've worked out its the three pronged disc that rotates through the crank angle sensor.
i think i must of accidentally bent it when i was replacing the cam belt. and evertime it rotates its wacking something in there.
which is a real ****. cause its a bit tricky to get to.
but i am happy.
i managed to drive the car from one side of the work shop to the other today. first drive in since october 2005. haha.
haven't even reved the engine yet cause of the stupid crank sensor is giving me the heebeejeebees.
so - i think my plan now is to *possibly* find a radiator repairer and a new bunch of parts for the cam cover area.
then i might take the whole engine out again. give it a dam good clean up. put all the stuff back on nice and properly and get it running smooth as silk.
argh
what a day. honeslty.
so we'll see you tomorrow in the VR-4 then?
not a chance. not driving it anywhere with the risk of the crank angle sensor chopping itself to bits.Originally Posted by bradc
but i will be fishing around for parts so if anybody has something they may like to "lend" me that would be great.
That is a piece of art man!
Bet you can't wait until you get to drive it a more than 20meters!
Good luck, hope you don't have that much trouble again!!
It'll be nice to see this project come to fruition! You have the patience of a saint! Keep going!
okay so it done. its workin and everything is pretty much sweet.
drove it all the way home from the workshop. even boosted it a few times to see how the screamers work.
its actually pretty quick considering its only running 7.5psi.
i got a couple of issues though.
i got a catch can and i cant find anywhere to put it in the engine bay... HELP.
i got a small oil leak coming from behind the oil filter bracket...which is going to be a bit of a ****.
um. other than that its just tidy up stuff. needs a wash, wof, rego etc.
but yeah. she goes pretty good.
