We work to live, and to live is to drive a VR-4, around corners at speed. But it costs see here
its o right for some i dont have warranty, and personnally think its abit of rip off
NO More VR4 for me, well ive still got the 6G
It happened this morning again as I came to work.:Cry1: Straight into the dealer for a MUT :typy: test.
Solenoid $93.00
Courier $25.00 INSERT INTO post VALUES (ex-Japan)
Labour 30 mins.
I await now 5 days for the part and then it will be fitted.
Not costly at all. :hurrah:
the tip worked :cool1:
Thank you. :bighug:
no worries m8
Had the same problem with my Galant on the way home from work.
Tried fiddling with the vaccum pipes by the bulk head and problem now sorted.
Thanks.
Were having the same issue....trc loff light AND the check engine light......we had the TRC unit replaced on Friday (at our cost...like $250) and low and behold it came on again this morning. When it was origionally stuffed when the trc button was pressed nothing would happen. Then once it was swapped out the button pressed would make the trc off light come on then press again and it would go away, i recall seeing a green light on the dash with a pic of skid marks etc....when should that show?
Pressing the button what should it do??
Cheers

When the engine check light turns on, it turns off the traction control as a precaution. Therefore you may not have a problem with the traction control itself but something else in the engine management. You need to drive it into a Mitsi dealer who has accessto a MUT-II to diagnose the actual code.

Yep checked that stuff, I think KiwiTT may be right, considering the traction control unit has been replaced and the problem still exisits. Normally when would the grenn pic of the skid marks be visable on the dash??

Ah well, I give up
The traction control is all working fine....well I can turn it on and off, Im still uns-sure when I will ever see the green dash light with the skid marks icon etc. but at least I can turn it on and off via the switch. Since Tuesday there have been no check engine light so I guess I'll have to play a game of risk & see if we can get it through an AA check without any issue then get a warranty on it....then if something does go wrong it will be an issue for the warranty.
On a side note they have had it plugged upto the machines at mitsi and Im told it either doesn't pull a code OR when it does it pulls something that relates to the Sedan version of the VR4 rather than the Legnum VR4....aren't they the same motor?? Either way Mitsi say they have had quite a few problems with them getting the CEL and they don't know why

The CEL needs to lit up for the MUT-II to be able to read it. When I had mine I left the car running and got the mechanic to diagnose it. As soon as you switch the engine off it resets the code.
I just can't afford to stuff around with it anymore, It hasn't pulled a cel since monday so I've booked it in for an AA check on Monday, **** it would cost me a fortune in gas driving it around trying to get the cel to go on again
Even when it was lit up the car would drive the same, hasn't really missed a beat.....only thing I don't like about it is the fuel consumption, would rate as the WORST I have ever seen.

RE: Fuel Consumption.
Think about the fact you can beat most HSVs and SSs, the XR series. It runs very rich. But taking the smile of these brutes is all the better for it.
RE: The ECL
I was like you. I knew something was wrong. It felt like a pit in my stomach. However, it did turn on at the right time eventuaklly and then off I went straight to the dealer.
Yeah i can't complain about the performance, while I have only driven it a dozen or so times I have managed to give it a little stab against some other turbo cars and it does pull very hard....especially considering it's weightOriginally Posted by KiwiTT
Maybe it won't come on again, it's a tricky one as this is a car were selling....there is no pint us selling it with an error like that as the buyer will just be back on our doorstep asking us to sort it. Only other bugger is although were getting an AA check on Monday IF the buyer want's a warranty then it cost's another $80 for an apprasial to get the warranty...the apprasial isn't as in depth as the AA check but they still want it More money in there pocket I guess.Originally Posted by KiwiTT

Thinking about it....why is the Legnum VR-4 such a guzzler?? I mean my MR2 is more powerful & faster but doesn't go through anywhere near as much gas. Mechanicly why is it such a big drinker??

Well we decided we should get Mitsi motors to sort it, dropped it this morning & collected at the end of the day. Results:
"Report on engine check light coming on, checked with board compuiter, found codes 71 and 77 logged, 71 "TCL" vacum circut, and 77 Solenoid operation, cleaned and secured all electronic plugs and pins as required, cleared fault code and reset computer as required, road tested, all ok"
$121.50
Drove 40 km's home....all great, went to the olds for diner, got in 3 and a half hours later to head home.....1 min after driving away the check engine light is on and the tlc off
Mitsi say they aren't provided with all the "diagnostic" software or equipment and if what they did doesn't sort it they may need to get it looked at by an auto electrician as they can't work out anymore than that.
I feel like ripping the two bulbs out, replacing the TRC button & selling it without traction control!! I won't but this is driving me nuts!!
