BMW E60 525i (3.0) M-Sport.
ask wodjono
Wodjno's is a 1.8 GDI
yes i know that but it will give some kind of an idea.
The UK-Spec 2.4GDi...... From what I've read on the net, and gleaned from a friendly technician at the local dealer, they're somewhere inbetween the 2.0 and the V6-24 in terms of power, but unless you drive with a feather foot, they are quick to switch from 'Ultra lean mode (20:1 air/fuel) to 'Superior output mode' (normal injector spray pattern and air/fuel ratios) - meaning you loose the economy benefit somewhat. The tech also said that they didn't seem as keen to rev as the V6 and the 2.0.
Hope this helps!
k do you know every thing about every thing.

I think i read somewhere that UK or European spec 2.4's were not as powerful, as the jap ones (140bhp rather than 165bhp)?

Also true. Infact the Jap-Spec 1.8 GDi is more powerful (150bhp) than the UK-Spec 2.4. This is mainly because Mitsubishi had to de-tune the engines to work with UK/Euro fuel. Not only do we have lower octane fuel, but our petrol contains more sulphur than Japanese stuff - which knackers the GDi cat converter.Originally Posted by Paul Beazer

Mitsi dealer told me the 2.4 gdi had been a flop, just as thirsty as 2.5 but not as smoooooth. Not sure about power figures but Kieran seems to have that covered.
personaly i like 2.4 gdi more then 2.5, the engine it self lighter, and reacts on pedal faster, but that's just IMHO
HI all, i bought a 2.4 a couple of months ago,its a 2000 model estate, and at the moment i am (quite), pleased with it, it has got a few quirks though which i no doubt will get used to. would love to hear from anyone else who has got one and we can compare Regards Kookie
god i'd hate to be on the desk of a dealer when you walk in kOriginally Posted by Kieran

It amused me the other day... I was discussing SVA and ESVA rules with the (very pleasant) service manager.... His eyes did start to glaze over..Originally Posted by ABEsport
its misleading to have the D in the GDI as i initially thought it meant diesel
