96-97 Mitsubishi Legnum VR-4 Type-S
Wotcha replacing it with?
Your not aspiring to getting an Evo like me?
Strewth and cor-blimey guvnor!
It must be hard to sell a car that you have put so much into. Good luck with the next one - it will be interesting to see what you get and what you do. I hope that your car goes to a deserving home.
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
And what are you going to replace it with?
Time to move on so i'll list for sale, if it doesn't sell for the right price then it stays with me. No idea what i would buy if i sold the car.
Fair enough! But what's lead up to that descision? Boredom? Feel that you've done all you can with it?Originally Posted by -LegnumVR4-
I could do a lot more with the car it's just the money that stops me from taking it further, i have to pour a lot of my money into the car and have little to spend on myself. I have new ideas and would love to finish the car off how i wanted it but can't get the coin together to complete it. If the car doesn't sell then i may continue to mod it.
just saw on TM, should get what u want for it, bloody gorgeous!!
Just out of interest what price would people put on this car?
Price? Thats a tough one, its a beautiful car, but if I were looking to buy it I would be mindful of the potential resale value.
Personally wouldn't go much over the starting...not so much a reflection of the value of the car, but more what $18,000 could buy. Could probably import a 1999/2000 model with good Kms for that.
Ok, but to buy the car with the mods on it? Compared to buying a car then building it up to the spec of mine, i would say u would be spending a large sum of money getting a shop to build it + the parts to do it.Originally Posted by Rossco Type-S
price well, its got reasonable k's at 8x,xxx and its the full trim model auto 97ish?
so that puts it at around 13,000-15,000
then you either add or subtract for the mods depending on what kind of person you are.
mods you can't argue with are the new mags and tyres so add 1500, the new paint add another 1500, the tidyness of it etc etc
but then you've got different brakes, different suspension, exhaust, re-done engine bay, piping, cooler etc etc... these will either raise or lower the resale value depending on who you are selling it to.
find the right person and you should get over 20k
Yes it would cost a lot to do the detailing and piping you have done, but the other mods are pretty standard for a good percentage of VR4's coming out of Japan.Originally Posted by -LegnumVR4-
Spending $10000-20000 moding a car does not increase its value by anywhere near that amount.
But as AllBeItMine said the right buyer might pay $20K, but show cars are a niche market. Good luck with the auction anyway.
Yeah true i understand where ur coming from and i know i'll never get the money back what I have spent on the car, i just don't want to let it go for nothing after all the work that has gone into it. Good to get different peoples views of the car and its value.
Its a shame i have to compare to whats on the current market, to the average person it would seem over priced.
i personally think its a bit sad. i seen it a few times now where people put a lot of work into something then sell up. i'm not sure what it is. i hope i don't feel the same way when i am finished playing with mine!
i guess "good luck" is in order for your sale if thats what you really want - but i hope you change your mind and decide to hold onto it... i mean - its a really nice car - and sure it has won awards... but at the same time its also really practical, and theres no "rule" written anywhere that states you HAVE to keep modding or sell up - you could just keep it and be happy with it for a while
Yes but i have had the car for nearly 4 years now and have done a lot of work by myself to get it to where it is so i'm proud of that. The car i don't feel is a 'show' car, i know it has nice pipe work on it etc but the whole car is built practical, i don't fill the boot up with subs and amps, i don't cut up the interior to fit things in it I work with it, body work isn't covered in all sorts of add on bits from Repco etc, i have a total different way of doing things so i don't screw the thing up.
I don't know if the car will sell, i may have to keep it and play around with it more.
I saw a facelift vr4 dark blue out that road goes past QEII for $8000, maybe you could buy it swap all your parts over
