    1.8 GDI 4wd Fuel economy

    Hi guys,
i Really like reading about other fuel economy so i thought i'd add ine to the list.

filled up on BP ultimate 98 then under fairly aggressive driving and lots of air con, i got 575 kms. when i filled up I olny managed to fir in 51 litres, so im assuming its about a 60l tank,
    so
    575 kms off 51 litres.
will update with less aggressive and no aircon

I didn't acheive particularly good economy out of my gdi, I got maybe 550km max as well. My VR-4 regularly gets 550km to 600km though.

    holy ****.

thats quite amzing considering the huge differences in the engines capacity alone, and when you take into consideration the turbo's.

hopefully this next tank with gentle driving and no air con will push out the economy a lot.

    575 of 51 = 11.27 kms per L. good ?

johnh - that works out around 31mpg (UK), which seems ok. It's about the same as my 2.0 auto FWD. The 1.8 should be more efficient, but being 4WD will make it less efficient, so it evens out.

I think the 4wd system adds about 100kg, so that is quite good economy.

Careful! I think the FWD cars are 64 litres, but the 4WD cars are only 60.

yeah, you are right Nick, the rear diff means that the tank is a little smaller on the 4wd's

Last week I got 214km out of a tank of BP Ultimate 98 in my Legnum. This was just city driving around Wellington. Which is pretty bad. I was fairly leaded footed though. Wish I had a GDi!

I had a 1.8 GDI (AWD edition admittedly) and that only got 50km per tank around town than my VR-4. if you get a dud one, they are worse than the VR-4 because you go SLOW and have poor fuel economy. With the VR-4 at least you can have fun.

If you want fuel economy, ease up on the gas, take motorways where possible and take off SLOWLY from intersections.

    Holy ****!

I spose at least if you put down you foot you can have some fun, mines pretty gutless compared to most cars.

Just for information, Ive just completed another 2 tanks, with average driving, bit of city and suburbs and motorway, and not too aggresive or passive, and get around 650 both times.

The thing that throws mine right out is Air con, which i dont need any way, so sweeet, easy path to good fuel economy.
