The blue colour might look good, but its the brightness that i'd be after. Thanks for the info Isaac

It's not just about how it looks. Your eye is more responsive to the bluer colour as it is closer to the light on a sunny day (which is 5600k). In other words, if you saw the same scene lit with the same brightness with 3000k and 6000k systems, you'd be able to see more clearly and easily with the 6000k. The OEM systems get both the brightness and colour, whereas aftermarket fit systems trade one against the other to some extent.

However, an aftermarket 6000k HID system will still be much brighter than even the best incandescent bulbs, even if it's not quite as bright as a 4200k HID.

I leave for work when it's dark, and come home when it's dark - haven't seen daylight it months (It Burns! It Burns!), so I'm desparate for decent lights! My current 80W bulbs keep frying their connectors!
Sorry about the late reply, can't check the forum from work anymore and missed this thread totally...
Anyway, it took us about 1 and a half hours to do the whole thing, the adaptor fits fine and there are rooms to fit the ballas (sp?). The bulbs go straight in without any drama, the only thing that needs modding is the legs that go into the original plugs to get power to the ballas, but that's only if you want to use the plug / sockets provided, it's basically the 2 wires that goes into the original plug, take the power off there and power to the ballas, then power the control unit to fire up the bulbs. There are no need for us to cut any wires, we only used a pair of pliers (again SP?) to make the legs of the wires to fit into the socket, that's all.
To fit the bulb itself to test, it took 15 mins.

The bulbs supplied are 6k or 6.5k but I can't remember exactly, but the higher you go, the bluer they become... apparently.

    Cheers,

    Jon

Yup around $300. Obviously you pay for what you get, and get to choose what colour temperature (6000k, 8000k, 10000k etc) and what bulb type.

$50 is a good one off price though. Good buy

vampirej, do you know the make of the kits you used, they look brilliant, I so want some HIDs but don't really wanna be doing dremmeling to get them in etc. Or can anyone recommend a kit off ebay etc, easy to fit and around say 6000k?

    Cheers

6000k will get you a white colour. 8000k will get you a bluish tinge. 10000k will get you a purplish tinge.

OSiRiS is correct... I can't remember the make but will double check this with Kenny. I think mine are either 7500k or 8500k.
    I know it's a Korean make...

Yeah cheers, I keep swaying, to get some or not, I see posts where it's taken under an hour to fit and then other times it's taken people up to 9 hours I just saw on another thread!

    Hey there,

Should be the same for all kits. Pretty much universal, it's just the lightbulb style and size which is different

    For Legnum it is H1.

H1, ok, so just something like this or this? I think I'd go with 8000K.

I was tempted by those too. One of the comments I read from a disgruntled type was that the kits were supplied with ballast but no 'voltage stabiliser' if I remeber correctly. Anyone know what the devil that means?

Does anyone know what we should be looking for in these kits - prices seem to vary fro 90ish to several hundred...? Must be some difference?
