    Disk thing - Help!!!!

Ok general knowledge question – who knows what this part is called or knows the part number so I can order a new set.

The ones on the car at the moment have been exposed to the elements – when I changed the brakes about a year ago I cleaned them up and sprayed them with a stainless steel coating but the near side keeps rubbing somewhere – I have taken the wheel off and bent it back but the rubbing comes back to haunt me now and again.

Any help please let me know

Would it harm the car if I removed them completely?

Lot's of cars don't have them - though they normal have small heatshields saving balljoints from being baked.

They're a pain in the @rse! The small 12mm bolt always shears and only the 2 caliper bolts hold it on, hence the rattle. Bend 'em or bin 'em!
    No longer empty and frantic...

    Bin them!!

They're back plates. They do rust and bend easily. Think I'd be a little uneasy just binning them as they do afford a little protection to the inside of the disc from stones and sh*t which may get thrown on to a bare disk and then be flung off or get caught up in caliper / disk pads etc.
