Well, for some few years that is poured into hundreds of Galants EAxx with 4-gear Tiptronic, and it's OK, no issues. Whatsmore, is recommended on owners website.
Thanks to you Kieran, I'm gonna have quite interesting evening digging over web .

Looking for what engine oil to use in my car - the sticker in Japanese under the bonnet lists 10W-30 and 10W-40, but I might not be reading it right:
Make: Mazda

Car is for road use.
It's one of these, if you're not familiar with the model. Mine is slightly less modified than the one pictured, LOL.

A good 10w-40 semi synthetic with regular changes is ideal.
Have a look here at the Fuchs XTR 10w-40 http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-657-10w-40.aspx

Any further advice on this re. using full synthetic is older cars? Thanks.
Looking for a recommendation for my BMW 330d year 2000. Need some new engine oil soon (well, it has another 7000 miles before a service but I'm waiting 12k miles between oil changes).
It's used for commuting and business whenever the weather is not too bad (do people really drive these things in all weathers? Do they have a death wish?)
No more VR-4s left. It's all over.
So you're not going by the service lights for when to change your oil then? I used to always go by what the lights said for my old E36 and E39. Resetting the lights was a simple matter of grounding a pin in the diagnostic port.

It was the deposits from old dino oils that caused problems when dislodged, it's not so common these days with better detergency

For non longlife change periods a decent quality 5w-40 (BMW Approved is good) meeting BMW LL98.Originally Posted by unclepete

For an FTO Mivec is it safe to use 5W-30 ?
I use it in all my other cars, from 300,000+ km 1986 laser, VR4's and Ford Falcon 4l 6 cyl.
I have seen that FTO owners, from what I can find tend to use 10W-40 or so.
I hope to pick my car up tomorrow and first thing on Saturday is oil change, and hopefully trans flush and service.
