Day trip to france, any ideas?

It's mothers day next week and as a treat I decided to take her to france for the day, I have booked my car on the eurotunnel and was thinking of either driving to brussels or driving down to Paris, anyone done the drive to Paris? I've looked on a route planning website and it looks about a 3hr journey each way, seem right? To be honest I'm not a big fan of france but have always be intregued to see the Eiffel tower so I'm pushing myself to do the drive so that way I've seen everything I want to and then I don't have go to france again. Be quite cool to get a pick of my car with the eiffel tower in the background.
How many french members do we have? They're probably slating me right now

    only joking

1 id go to bruges in Belgium my self been a couple of time lovely place.

2 if you go to Paris with your vr4 you are a brave man

3 i used to go around Paris a lot in a 44ton truck and the Parisians don't give a f*ck about what is going on around them.

    3 hours is about right

4 don't use the motorways use the N roads there are some beautiful towns/villages on the way and you don't pay and the roads are good.

5 try not to go on to the parafreac (like n/s circular London but much worse).

I was in Belgium last weekend!!

Brussels is Great! I'll attach a few pics of Brussels.

Two are of the Atomium (I'll let you guess which!) You can go inside and it is very cool!

The other three are of Brussels.

"With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead."

I'd agree with that as well, Brussels or Bruge is the place to go, much safer place's to take a VR4.

Stick with N roads in France very little traffic and no nutters, lovely scenery.

Cheers, I think I wont bother with paris, 6hrs on a motorway, doesn't really seem like a good way to spend a day trip. Where abouts is Bruge? and that Atomium? What is it? I'll have a look on the map too.

I did the trip today, it was an early mothers day present before anyone panics thinking they've forgotten :-) In the end I went over to france, drove to brugge, had a butchers, drove to st omer, had another butchers, drove to cite europe, stocked up on booze and then drove home in time to catch last orders at the pub, Spot on!! Not bad, being in three countries in one day! Did about 410 miles round trip, with no quibbles from my baby! I've stuck on a few snaps to bore you senseless

    My baby in France!!!

I did 410 miles in total. I did have a few people looking but I wasn't sure whether it was "look at that car" or "Look at those bl00dy tourists, don't have a clue where they're going" There was one point I had a little panic where I was down to about an 8th of a tank, had been gunning it a bit and not watching the consumption, so I thought I'd better pull off the motorway and find a garage, there was nothing but tractors and farms for as far as the eye could see, so I called on my 'trusty' tomtom to point me to the nearest garage, 18 miles!! back the way I'd come!! I searched to see if there was any further and on the way but there wasn't, so I had to track back and fill up. After, carried on along the motorway, after the 36 mile detour I past the junction where I turned off and yes, you've guessed it, a giant double garage texaco services!!!! only 1, maybe 2 miles after the junction!!!!! Bloody tomtom!!!!
