    Falken FK451's discontinued !

But, they have been replaced by FK452's

Lots of info on them HERE

Just on the hunt for some tyres now for RT3. Always been an Eagle GSD3 man, but have considered these before........so may give them a go.

Falken tyres are very good....tho are slightly more expensive than GSD3, probably one of the reasons why GSD3's are more popular.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it!...MOD IT!

Indeed they are, Nick is spot on.

Just called my normal supplier and:

    Goodyear F1s = £82.77 (fitted) - bobby bargain price
    Falken FK452's = £69.93 (fitted)

Hmmm, which to go for ?

Lucky son of a guns! ...hardly anyone over here have deals with Falkens, but you see advertisements for GSD3's quite often.
Personally, I'd prefer the FK452's...they seem to be more of a all round tyre, where the GSD3's are more for wet conditions.
I'm sure someone's gonna disagree with me here!

Best prices so far for FK452s:

My supplier - £69.93 (price includes fitting)

    Mytyres.co.uk - £69.60 (supply only)

    Falkentyres.co.uk - £63.34 (supply only)

Looks like my guys are damn competitive

Got my Falkens from www.ctyres.co.uk - based in Bradford near one of the places I work at - they offer free delivery via the web but you can get them fitted for the same price.

The place ALWAYS has a queue of taxi drivers outside waiting for a pit stop so you know that its gonna be cheap!!! (about £25 a corner cheaper than Goodyear)

They don't list the new 452 though.......

Well, there's a tale. Believe it or not.......I normally sh*g a set of F1's in 30mins at Castle Combe in the dry.......but at RT2 I saw absolutely no tyre wear whatsoever !

They look quite nice, I'm considering the Toyo T1R's for my next tyres as another option too.

Had Falkens on Big Lex last time (225/55-16), very good, but changed to Kumho's with the new Enkei's.

Kumho's surprisingly much better in wet and dry, (225/55-16 front, 245/50-16 rear) and lasting much longer than Falkens. And Cheaper ! ! !

(Used Toyo Proxies once, very sticky, Went from New to Canvas in 8k miles!)

Tried Nankangs (because they were all I could get in a hurry!) once.
Threw them away after 10k, with tread like new. They gripped like wet leaves.

As you know Pete - I swear by the FK451's and they obviously last longer than the Goodyears, although I suspect without the ultimate grip (softer compound and all that)

    Kumho Ecsta Supra 712

I'm well impressed with them, the only thing I've tried which can provide a decent bit of traction.
The Big Lex tends to have trouble connecting the engine to the ground.
Nicely predictable in the wet, very good in the dry, and seem to be lasting well. 10k now and still plenty rubber left.
I got them because of the extremely limited choice in 245/50-16 size. I'd definatly use them again.

and your friends at Camskill seem to sell them !

    haha, no they aren't

I'm trying to locate good tyres that are available in 235/45/17 and 265/40/17, and the Ecsta Supra 712's seem to come up quite a bit, as well as the Proxes T1R and now the FK452's

Pete, sorry if I missed it, but what did you think of the FK452's in the end?

Well, tbh I will be returning to F1's.

Two reasons - the road noise is far less with them and they gave me more confidence in the damp weather on track.

Not going to slate the Falken's, I just think that I have had F1's for so long and I know exactly how the car reacts with them that probably any other tyre just wont measure up in my mind.

    giving 452s a shot

I've had FK 512s on, and they've been ok (came with the car), but wearing on the edges (I reckon the alignment's off)... & then there's the pin/nail on one of the rears, that's close to the edge, and won't come out

So tomorrow I'm fitting 452s - should be quieter & with more grip.
(If I were going on a track & looking for ultimate grip, I'd probably have bounced the other way & gone with Goodyear GSD3s)

First feedback on Falken 452 on the german consumer site looks promising - but just from 3500kms & 4 drivers.

I found them at FalkenTyres for £50 a corner

    Will
