    What Tyres?

I know this has been done before, but i am after the particular opinions of the ringers now they are all back. I know some of you were giving different tyres a go and some of you would have been testing your tyres under extreme conditions for the first time so was wondering how did they fare?

I am about to buy some new tyres, but as i'm on the standard 16" wheels, any suggestions apart from GSD3's. i'd prefer something with a stiffer sidewall.

Any info on ZZ3's or T1R's would be much appreciated.

I put on the new Falken 452's for RT3. Have yet to do a close inspection but tyre wear seems minimal (but then it was in August). I will say one thing, I will be going back to Goodyear F1 GSD3's after Japfest.........they give me 100% confidence. I still managed some good times at the Ring in the Falkens, but missed the Goodyears......the combination in all conditions cannot be bettered IMO.

The Toyo T1R's were rated highly by Motor, an aussie mag. They were a little better than the GSD3's in the dry, and a little worse in the wet.

gotta be the GSD3s, in the wet they stick like the proverbial to a small fluffy dog. ive had to drive from auckland to rotorua a few times in dreadful condition and they inspire heaps of confidence. In the dry they are the best i've ever had since i had some brand i can't remember 205/45/17 on my old honda civic. Highly recommended.

I agree, totally transformed mine. Very little road noise, mind you had horrible

I've got barely legal Goodyear NCT 5's on at the minute. As I don't know any different, they seem ok.

I'm toying with getting some alloys too. mmm decisions.

It was feedback from you and Pete that I was most interested in Glenn, as I knew both had had some fun with tyre choices before you went, so thanks for the update mate.

I have run on Avons. Nothing horrible about them, but I wouldn't buy them again. They just didn't feel right.

Totally agree with you Nick - the ZZ3's. The difference in the wet at Donington is considerable when comparing ZZ3's and GSD3's. I'll only use GSD3's from now on.
