    Exclamation Car kinda blew up!

Well last nite a friend came round to pick a haynes manual up, whilst he was round I showed him round the galant.
He was impressed by my grandad mobile, so I showed him the engine and he was impressed with the 2.5 V6.
I then turned the car on and a couple of minutes later I revved once or twice to let him hear the V6 and bang,
next thing there is smoke coming out the engine bay and oil dripping everywhere, only after the oil hit one of the fans meaning it went everywhere.
So turned the car off and after about 10 minutes the oil stopped as |I guess there is none left in the car now,
So god knows what happened and my drive is covered in oil.
Foning the garage at 9 today to get it sorted but any ideas as to what happened????

Am gutted as I've only had it 5 weeks and just keep having problems with it

sounds like a piston has tried to escape...

prob easier to get a second motor rather than rebuild.

I think you should hold them to replacing the engine for you, it sounds like it will be very expensive

Oh dear, Sounds like you've bought a heap of trouble. First time I've ever known a 6A13 fail in this way!

I would be beating a path back to the garage you purchased it from!

This might sound weird, but I honestly had a bad feeling about the car just after I bought it, firstly the brakes were knackered and new discs were put on (well as far as I know) then the shuddering at 60-70mph (tracking i guess) - then the timing belt making squeaky noises here and there - then this happens.

And this is supposed to be a car that got fully serviced and MOT'd as part of the buying the car deal, think am actually gonna do them for selling me an unroadworthy car,

look on the bright side, all these problems are only happening a couple of weeks after you bought it, and as such you should be able to force them into sorting out all of these problems, if it had happened in 6 months you would have a much harder time.

What a bummer. You need to start demanding results from the garage ASAP, don't let them drag it out.

Are you sure it was the timing belt slipping?

Was this very, very shortly before the big bang?
