    Cabin Heat not working

Hi everyone, I got a 96 legnum VR4 and the cabin heat is not working. Air cond is working 100%, however, when I try to turn on some heat only super cold air comes out (Engine has already warmed up to normal temp).

Could anyone give me some possible cues what is going on?

    Thanks for your help, Cheers!

There's a picece of tubing on the rear of the a/c control unit. If this gets damaged or comes loose, the control unit won't get an accurate reading and keeps 'seeing' a super-warm cabin - hence the constant cooling.

AeroVR4 - The sensor is near the contols. Remove the center dash area and you should find a corrugated tube running to the back of the controls. That is the air flow for the sensor.

Rikki - sounds like you need re-gassing!

Does anybody else's AC not go any lower than 17 degrees C. Mine just beeps as it reaches that temperature, and wont go any lower.

It seems cool, but not as cold as I would like it to be. Especially on a really hot day.

Cheers, but mine actually feels like 17 degrees so probably working ok. Just wondering if it should or can drop any lower than that.

I noticed that also and don't believe it will get any colder. AC units in cars in the Middle East (where I once lived) were positively 'freezing' cold by comparison. Is it the size of the compressor that dictates how cold it will get? Not sure, but even small cars had far better AC units than ours.

By the way, I find the inside cool enough on a hot day providing the windows are closed and the controls are set for recirculating air rather than outside air.

Our lowest is 17 degrees then the air con kicks in and we all freeze even on really hot days

I think 17 just means As-much-cooling-as-possible. If you turn it up, then you hit a top limit as well, which just means As-much-heating-as-possible. The air-con should get the car plenty cool, so if it isn't then get it checked/regassed. Although Richard could be right, it may be that cars for certain regions get bigger compressors.

Yeah re-gas it, made quite a difference on my old VR4 when I had it done. AP only charge about £45 to do it, and ran through some anti-fungal stuff in the cockpit at the same time - think it was made by Comma, just like a smoke bomb
