    ABS fault codes?

Does anyone know what the ABS fault codes mean?

I checked my car for fault codes out of curiosity. As far as I know only the engine check light should have been flashing but not only was this light giving a steady flash the neutral gear light was steadily flashing also. What got me was that my ABS light was flahing sequences of 1 and 3 then 1 and 4 repeatedly.

What do the codes 13 and 14 mean? I've tried googling it but cant dig up anything

Of course I would go to Mitsi and ask them but I know they want my money!

    Any help appreciated!

According to the literature in this thread...

    13 Intake air temperature sensor
    14 Throttle position sensor

There has been some discussion to the validity of some of these though.

We want your money too... $20 to be exact. With full membership, you can access the thread that has the diagnostic info in it.

    Hi Lucas,

All the relevant data is available to Members in the Library together with loads of other useful information.

    Codes you mention are:

    13 Intake air temperature sensor
    14 Throttle position sensor

As far as the Neutral gear light flashing ......... if it is flashing quickly (twice a second) it means the ATF has overheated. If flashing once per second go to a Mitsy dealer and get it checked urgently.

Before you get too worried though, personally I would disconnect battery for 5 minutes, reconnect, and see if all the flashing lights disappear. If they do then all is OK and it's just 'one of those things'.

Bog standard silver VR4 except a decat pipe and quad exhaust outlets.

Yeah I'd thought about becoming a member but I figured I don't actually own a VR4 (insurance, too young etc etc.) But hey I still may sign up if you think it's worth it.

Thanks for the info guys but I thought the check engine light was supposed to flash for those codes??? In this case it's the ABS light.

As for the transmission codes - uh oh! If there is anything wrong there I may have screwed myself. Anything faulty would be covered by warranty but I had the trans operated on twice by a garage I thought was absolute ****. I had the whole vibrating trans thing going on and had about $3000 worth of surgery performed under warranty by a garage that scratched my car and stuffed up the repair the first time round meaning I had to go back to get it redone. The problem is they wanted me to come back in 6 months and have a few things done at my cost in order to keep within the garages own warranty. Like hell I was going back to those guys!

So all in all I will probably lose the rest of my warranty period if somebody finds out, bummer huh. Suppose I brought it on myself.

Anyway cheers guys I will know in a couple of days whether or not these faults are valid or not.

    Good luck.

Just to let you know you that we DO have other STR owners as members. While specifically a VR-4 club, we are nice and friendly and welcome other Galant/Legnum owners. There is also information here (and contacts) that will be useful to you eithier way.

Let us know how things turn out.

Um yeah, try removing the R from the ST. I bought the 25 ST thinking it was the next best thing compared to a VR4. Lo and behold a 25 STR decides to pop into view a few days later. Oh well It's only those nice leather seats etc that I'm missing out on

    Will keep you updated, thanks!

    i have a 25ST,
its far from standard now, check out my gallery
    http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/vbpicga...p?do=view&g=36

leather seats was a option that could be had in most galants/legnums...

what your really missing out on is the 5 stud hubs and larger brakes,
im doing the 4-5 stud hub and bigger brake conversion to mine soon, so it will be STR spec

ill be doing a how-to guide soon with pics,
and it looks like a sub $350 coversion at this stage (2nd hand parts from members and trade me)

even thou i only have the 25ST.... i still think its worth joining the club,

saved a few $$ using the guides, well worth the $20

    nice group of people,
you should come to a club meet sometime...
not sure when the next one is thou

Thanks Gly, checked out your pics - Nice!

As for my fault codes, disconnected the batteryfor about half an hour and tried draining any power remaining but the same codes are still there. Will just have to wait and see if anything goes wrong then my warranty can hopefully take care of it. Also as for joining I will get onto that either tonight or tomorrow.

    Cheers!

Have you tried cleaning the sensors, may be of no use but worked for me.
