    Smile Another offset question

Im a newbie to the forum, just got a 98 Legnum VR4. This type of question will have been answered before, but I seem to come across conflicting answers. Looking at upgrading my standard wheels & have got my eye on these second hand Volk Rays TE37.

    18 x 7 1/2 J
    PCD 114.3 5 stud
    Offset +48 SH WH

Apparently they are off a lowered facelift VR4 but have read that offset on facelift's should be around 38, can you guys confirm they would fit

    Cheers guys

    Here is an offset calculator.
    http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

If your stock wheel is 6.5" wide with +46 offset, you will have 15mm less inner clearance. Right now i have 17x8 with +40 offset & 235/45/17 tires & no problems. If you go with the 7.5" wide wheels with +48 offset you will have 2mm less inner clearance than me.
Best thing to do is try them on to be sure.

If they fit one legnum, they should fit another, providing that your car is not lowered more than the one they are from?

There is no difference between pre and post facelift when looking at what wheels will fit, the only difference comes about with aftermarket suspension.

    Hope that helps.

    oooooh TE37's, nice

If they've already been on a Legnum then they will fit fine, worst case you can buy some high quality spacers from trademe fairly cheaply anyway.

I've bought some 17 x 8J wheels with a +45 offset. I've just test fitted one to have a look and it looks like the outside edge of the wheel protrudes ouside the front wheel arch. I've tried the offset calc and it tells me that my wheel extends 20mm. Does this mean I can't run these wheels? Or can I just fit some tyres and see if they rub?

Hmmm.... I would be tempted to try the tyres and see. 8" wide wheels are always close, so it is difficult to say. The rear wheels move in towards the car as the suspension lowers, but I'm not sure if the same is true at the front.
