number plates

Hi guys got a question on plates.

i read on a DVLA site that the front plate can have smaller characters on to make it fit the original size plastic mount on an import.
but it did say it was a no type approved car. i take it the legnums are type approved.
However i have not been able to find the DVLA site reference again as the link i had has no been moved or deleted.

Can someone tell me if this true.

It would free up a lot of space for air to hit the intercooler directly. about 5-6 square inches.

Some of the guys here have fitted the normal style plate to there cars without any problem

I've got a private plate on mine now and have fitted a smaller plate to the font to fit in the recess. Similiar to Spirit's plate, but as there are less digits i've kept the size and spacing legal.

I have a smaller plate fitted to mine (see my gallery pix), but luckily only been pulled once.....and we carry the original 13x7 plate in the boot so used the excuse we had been to a show and forgot to swap them back.......got away with it as Shaz was the one pulled over and she sweet talked the two coppers.....and got them talking about the car instead !
