    MOT / Rear Doors

Does anyone know if it's a legal(MOT) requirement for the rear doors on a 4 or 5 door car to actually open

AFAIK Glen the front doors have to open and close from both inside and out. The rears have to latch securly in the closed posistion.

If I came to MOT a car which I could not gain access to the rear belts via the rear doors I would move and adjust the front seat so I could lean in and check them.
When I took the MOT testers course I was told that if its not a reason to fail in the testers book then I could not fail it. The only thing I would issue is an advisory that the rear doors dont open

Is your MOT due soon Glen?? Shame your not closer to me eh

Sounds good to me.. Was thinking about cars that have bucket seats fitted that do not recline or tip forward. It
f these were fitted to a 3 door car, access would not be available through the front. Only through rear window, if it has them! So then the Tester would have to clamber over the front seats to test the rear belts. I'm sure there are plenty of cars that fit that description and they seem to pass there MOT's.

Anyway thanx for your input's I'll now crack on with front pads, rear lights not working and securing the 2 front seats to the for properly so they don't wobble around anymore

    Cheers all
