also with different tread patterns, anyone buying these for a 4WD should change the tyres. Different tread patterns on a 4WD car is not a good idea, on a VR-4 its a positively dangerous idea when it rains.

If I had the $$ would be tempted though

Actually Kenneth it is quite funny with the white car. It has a pair of badly worn Dunlop Direzza DZ101's, and a pair of good (4-6mm) GSD3's. If I have the Direzza's on the front, it understeers really really badly in the wet and in the dry. With them swapped around it is quite easy to get it to oversteer in the wet, but the car is fairly neutral in the dry.

thats because you are not really pushing the tyres to their limit in the dry. The effects are less pronounced because of the extra grip you have in the dry, but if it came down to something having to go, it would do the same as in the wet.

I agree that its not such a great problem in the dry, but what happens when you come around a corner and hit a wet patch?

Obviously its personal preference, you may want to have the rear end sliding everywhere... I must admit, it can be fun.

I feel it is good to warn people though. I was told, didn't believe it and then nearly came a cropper at the first roundabout I came to

Pushing it to the point where all 3 ayc lights are on, and the asc light at about 60kmh around a roundabout I know your point though.
