    Diagnostics

Ooooh just rung mitsubishi who want 84.95 + VAT to plug my car into the diagnostic machine!

Firstly the lady said they'll need the car a couple of hours because the fault codes come out in Japanese and need to be converted?? Is that right?? I was just expecting a number!

Secondly, Is their machine any better than just shorting the pins on the MUT connector? I've checked the car this way and I just get all the lights flashing at a periodic 1 second which I thought meant everything was ok.

    Anyone have any experience?

The MUT should get more info than the pin short method, afaik. But I can't tell you about the Japanese thing. Some dealers have said its a problem in the past, others have said its not.

To be honest, though, I would be suprised if the MUT gives a problem when the dash is not showing anything on the old flash codes.
