Nankang N605 anyone used them?

Galant flew through its MOT today except for an advisory on the rear tyres.

being a notorious tight arse and the fact that I dont drive it very hard Ive found Nankang N605's at £53.50 delivered. Bargain, but are they any good?.

Ive got 17's on so im limited to 215/50/r17 Ive got Falken Ziex's on at the moment and found them ok.

any reccomendations? or can anyone find me better tyres for around the same price?.

any help greatly appreciated.

The nankangs aren't bad tyres but they aren't the best out there. I would use them on a car that isn't driven too hard.

I've used Nankang NS2 tyres and was fairly impressed by them, but I was even more impressed with the hankook Ventus K104 I replaced them with. They were cheap too, so see if you can find them.

Nankangs I've had on the VR-4, and I'm pretty sure it was that model too. Okay in the wet, disappointing in the dry, but not likely to make the car 'bite' you, if you know what I mean.

Agree on the Hankooks. For the price they're good.

goodyear gsd3's, or dunlop dz101's
are my recomendation for bang for buck

personally i found the nankangs poo. (ns2)
i could get my 2.5 v6 4wd n/a sideways and fish tailing in the dry

ive had the hankooks (ventus) as well and they are much better than the nankangs, but i still woundnt buy them again,

at the end of the day the tyres you are buying are whats keeping you on the road, wet or dry, fast or slow, is it really worth skimping on them to save a few $$??

I'm guessing you guys in NZ have much different prices to us here then, as Goodyear/Dunlop/Conti etc are almost double the price of Nankang/Hankook/Kumho etc.

I'm not saying the Hankooks and Nankangs are better than the others, but for the price I think they are a good tyre.

Blackcircles.com's best mail order price in that size is the same Nexen N3000 I bought before my last MOT (£61.49 mail order, £75 fully fitted). I hadn't heard of them, but they're allegedly a common OEM fitment on several German and Far Eastern cars. They were also by far the cheapest "V" style directional tread pattern I could find (same as your Falkens), and since that seems to be a common design on good rain tyres I thought I'd take the plunge.

Been a huge improvement, although the tyres on the car before that were really crappy and cheap and offered no lateral grip whatsoever. Also, my car's a bit on the lardy side for cornering (soft springs, high ride height) so I tend not to go all Stiggy in the twisties. However, I do have a wee fetish for enthusiastic roundabout exits, especially when it's raining; the car's been very well behaved under those circumstances.

And of course they dun 'arf look good when you park the car up and leave the front wheels on full lock, although hopefully that won't be your prime consideration when making your choice.
