Dashboard fixing behind clock ?

Just got my clock out (yes I said clock ) to resolder it and noticed that there seems to be a locating pin for the dash in behind. It does not feel like it's threaded but should there be any kind of fixing on it? It's just I am on a rattle/squeek hunt and I am getting a squeek from around that area of the dash and wondered if this was the cause ...

I guess nobody knows the answer to the above .. I will get a photo up later to show what I am talking about .. I think what I have got is the way it should be, I think it's just a locating pin.

Anyway, I have found the source of my squeeking, it is nothing to do with the clock, instead it is the windscreen vent at the back of the dash. If I hold the left hand side of the vent down the squeeking stops.

Does anybody know if this vent pops out ?
