    auto to manual conversion questions

whats the trick to making the auto comp think its in park so it can start/run??

how hard is this to do yourself?
doz it require engine being removed?

also what is a direct fit clutch wise? (evo 4/5/6?)

    how many bits are needed?....

    manual box,
    clutch + flywheel,
    shifter + cables,
    pedal box,
    clutch master + slave cylinder,
    hydralic line,

    anything ive missed there??

you need that horrible little metal panel that sits in the firewall that lets the shifter cables run from the engine bay to the actual shifter, other than that I think you've got the whole list.

When I called kempy's they said it was $1700 for the entire kit, with everything you need.

$550 isn't bad at all, I'd suggest you go for it, especially if the trans code is W5M51 (same as a VR-4) which I beleive it is.

the seller's non turbo manual gear box may not match your vr4 engine, it yours a 6A13 engine?
Gly must check the parts number before payment

    mine isnt a VR4,

    mines a 25st (6a13 shoc)
same as what hes selling from

all the 6aXXs share the same block AFAIK?

(hence why theres a 6a13tt fto that used to use a fto 6a12 manual box)

also "the vee" has his 6a13 fwd galant...

and so the box should bolt to any other 6aXX,

may go thru with the purchase if i canfirm the box is in good nick.....

may look into dicthing the flywheel and clutch, and going with new evo 4-6 items??

brad how much extra did you pay gary to convert yours?

the whole park neutral drive thing is done by the inhibitor switch. i would imagine you would need the mounts aswell.

All 6Axx engines are the same size block, it is quite easy to do 6a12 to 6a13 conversions, quite a few people have done it, both turbo and non turbo versions.

Why not stick with the stock flywheel and clutch just to get it working at first, then worry about an evo one when you need to replace the clutch?

I didn't ask how much extra it was going to cost me, I just told him to go and do it.

cool, (you mean make it think its in park?)

so just short 2 wires together,
nothing else needs to be done?

i can go turbo if i want, just not affordable atm,

also why put the box in just to take it out again?
do it once do it right... (also depends what the second hand parts are like)

    yep thats it

it will be easy to find which ones as well just trace the wire from the gear changer.

this almost sounds like a weekend job to do

will definately be looking at getting the parts now

also do you need to change the starter motor? or if the auto one fine?

can anyone confirm that the evo4-6 clutch and flywheels are a direct fit?
    (no futher mods needed)

or should i just stick with the stock item and a heavier pressure plate?
