That raises a very good point though. I hadn't thought about a handover certificate before, but it makes sense to get one when you drop your car off and before you take your car away.

Surely it is in the interests of both parties!!

Real hard luck mate, but here's my advice.

    i. Take detail pictures of the car and the damage. If the damage is recent there will be tell tale signs such as small fragments of plastic around the scratches which have not falling off yet and the split area should be clean of dirt from normal road driving.

ii. If the dealer did not fit the part properly the first time round and have admitted it, ask for a full refund for that job. This is covered by the trading standards and if they complain that the part is now broken still insist on a full refund for the labour part of the job. If they go this route also claim expenses for the inconvenience caused to you INSERT INTO post VALUES (travel costs, time off work, etc...)

iii. Ask a moderator of the this forum to send a letter to the Mitsubishi dealer explaining we are Mitsubishi enthusiasts and that unless a fair agreement is reached, an accurate account of the event will be posted on all Mitsubishi forums, strongly advising members to avoid this dealership. Emphasise the amount of money you have spent with the dealer and that if you had been of a character to lie about this damage, you would not have paid for the repair/replacement in the first place. Copy this letter to the area manager and Mitsubishi UK CEO.

However please please please do not give up. Write to local newspapers, trading standards, watchdog bodies, etc... Give the dealer hell.

Once again guys thanks for all the support!!! You are right though Jamo i am still fuming at the fact that i have effectivly been accused of lying!!
Just to update though i called Mitsubishi UK today and told them what had happened, i eventually managed to get through to GM of service etc who called Mitsubishi Eccles and was told the same crap that they told me, the GM said that as it was a franchise there was very little he could do and that the dealership said the only way that they would pay for the damage would be if i could prove that the damage happened at thier site.
My argument of course is that they should have to arrange a 'forensic' specialist or a professional examing of their Video evidence to show that i drove into the dealership with a perfect front bumper. I cant believe that even Mitsubishi UK are saying that there is nothing that they can do even if the work carried out on my vehicle was not upto the standard required.
As you can imagine this wasnt the answer that i wanted to hear so i am now waiting for the MD to call me on Monday to discuss the issue! so hopefully will get some sense from him!
In the meantime there is no way i am taking the car from their until they sort it!!!!!Letters, emails, posters, bad press i need to do it all as i dont really have anything to lose...............................
Thanks again guys for all the support!

This looks like a good idea... If we can add some clout like this INSERT INTO post VALUES (and in future situations); then we may be able to make things bettter for all of us....

Agree with Haydars 3rd point. However, it would be prudent to do this as a last resort.

Okay folks, looks like i ma going to have to pick the car up today as i appear to have run out of options.......trading standards say that it is their word against mine so advised to go through a small claims court. I filled up at a shell station 15 minutes before dropping the car off, they unfortunately have recorded over the original tape. Mitsubishi UK say that they cant do anything as it is a franchise? :wall:
So looks like i will be picking her back up today and giving Horners a piece of my mind whilst i am there! Absolutely gutted over the whole situation, i cant believe what has happened and how i have been treated! Not impressed........

    whats the latest with this?

this type of service (or lack of it) should not be given by a mitsubishi dealer or franchise - it should be best left to fiat/alfa dealers!

these amatuers should be named and shamed - dont stop fighting your corner, the fact they have incorrectly fitted the repaired / replacement bumper probably accounts for part of the damage.......

    stick it right up 'em!!!
