Is there any way to tell the difference between a FF galant and its 4WD conterpart?
Is there any way to tell the difference between a FF galant and its 4WD conterpart?
I'm not arguing...I'm just offering an endless series of contrary points of view.
the chassis code on a 4wd car is different
EC5W = 4wd legnum with 6a13 or 6a13tt engine
EA5W = 2wd legnum with 6a13 engine
EC5A = 4wd galant with 6a13tt engine
EA5A = 2wd galant with 6a13 engine
the number can be 1,2,3,4,5,7 it just depends on what engine is used.
Im looking at a 2.4 GDI galant.
so this info is wrong about the 24 Viento?

Ignore me I just opened my eyes a little better.
nahh thats all correct.
Just don't buy a GDI! If you are looking at a non-turbo galant/legnum, but a v6 2.5, same engine as a VR-4 but without the turbos.
Why not?
With our fuel (not being 100 octane and containing different chemicals to Japan) they end up with fuel economy issues.Originally Posted by djb160
Also tend to have issues with the high pressure fuel pump (needs some huge pressure to be able to inject into the cylinders under compression) which is expensive to get fixed.
Basically, you have a good chance of picking up a dud.
or a sack of ****, depending on how you like to word things
so apart from GDIs and "hard to find and too expensive for what they are STRs" what is there? links to models etc would be helpfull
Have a look at the stuff on here...
http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mitsubishi/legnum/
why not a 25 st?? 2.5v6 and fwd...
http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mi.../1996_8/19624/
Thats better, thanks
EDIT: If any sees a non turbo 6A13 for sale from a dealer for less than 9K give me a yell please
No probs.. Some of the specs are a bit off but will give you a guide..
how far off? how much crapper is the mileage for GDIs on 98/95 Awesome looking car, good power for size etc, but if they're worse than a VR4 I wont go there?
Kenneth had a gdi and it was worse than his vr-4, my gdi was capable of 600km on every tank, but only on 98. It was a complete DOG on 91.
The st/str's with a V6 on the other hand will run right as rain on 91 octane and are very good on the petrol with a manual box.
Here is a list for you, including cars not from dealers http://www.trademe.co.nz/browse/cate...rder=price_asc
mine was a little better on the gas than the VR-4... but only marginally!Originally Posted by bradc

Thats average figures for around town. The GDI WAS 4wd though.
So I upgraded to a VR-4 and got slightly less fuel economy, but much more grin
Were 25STs made all years or only 96-97?
Heres the link to the car Im looking at, the dealer doesn't know much as far as i can tell, can anyone tell me more.

Heres my preferences(but beggars cant be choosers);
- from dealer
- rather not spend more than $8k or so.
- 4WD for saftey
- Tiptronic 5 speed
- non turbo
- better than VR4 on gas. I can use either 95 or 98
- thats about it actually I'd like a nice colour and interior but only if the price is okay

Thats completely wrong though for what you're looking for, it is an auto, bad engine, and most likely fwd!
heck I'd probably sell you my white VR-4 for $8k, and it's even got black leather! Much better than that gdi

BUY A VR4,
a 4wd N/A isnt worth it.
gas isnt much better than a vr4,
and you have ALOT more choices when it comes to vr4s, espcially since you ideally want a manual
Fuel economy depends largly on the way you drive... and you will never get great economy out of a 4WDOriginally Posted by djb160
I have to avoid a turbo for now untill I can get out working. Yeah sucks about the car not being what I'd prefer, but I'm not fussy as it's only a runaround car untill I can get a VR4 that's exactly what I want to do up. Its gonna be amys car not mine. It has to be a tip and 5 speed.
Its visually perfect for what I want, its even got a towbar(big deal I know). On a related note, how do the FF versions handle, too easy to loose traction from standstill? how do they feel on corners etc?
