    Woohoo! let the spending begin!

I realise alot of you aren't interested in the progress of my track car, but i'm going to be telling you about it anyway.

I'll be picking up and paying for my sparkly new engine tomorrow and i've bought a new clutch, cover plate, exhaust, induction kit, start motor and double fan cowling today.

    Expect pix...

Keep telling us Steve - some of us are interested

At least you are having fun and using your car and don't just keep it like a museum exhibit

I guess Japfest isn't your 1st event of the year either !!! (Waits for the attack of the polishers/parts 'replacers' )

Oh.. cool. I'm not sure about the techie bits, I'll either be fudging them or getting a mate to do them but as for pics i'll happily oblige. When it comes to buying parts i'm so glad i've got a Peugeot, this mornings bill was only £250!

For PB: The engine came with the car, but was far from complete to just plonk into it. I did a bit of research and asked a few questions and decided to have it looked at before spending money on it, just aswell really as it wasn't the most healthy of engines. Amongst other things it had suffered a little oil starvation, so the crank has had some buffing and the shells had spun aswell. It's had all new pulleys, oil pump and gubbins and had an aggressive skim for want of a better term to raise the CR a little bit. I've been told to expect 170hp, but i'll be happy with the standard figures.

I've bought another 1.6 GTi box, this ones been refurbished and has a KAAZ LSD fitted. The 1.6 ratios should mean it's better for track work but a nightmare on any long/constant high speed journeys. Alot of people have the 1600 box and fit the Mi final drive, but I don't really want to spend the money so i'll make do with what i've got.

I'll take some snaps tonight and use this thread as an ongoing 'project diary'. I want the car to be ready for MOT in a month.

apparently the td box is nice on the mi engine, sort of between the 1.6 and 1.9 ones but still has a decent top end for motorways etc.
